"I've always wanted to attend the ballet and was disillusioned thinking tickets would be pricey. Once I heard the Joffrey Ballet was doing a production of Midsummer Night's Dream I was surprised to see tickets start at $36! Our view from aisle 1 row L seats 101&102 were so close to the stage, only a little bit of the right of the stage was cut off. I had no idea how early to arrive, we got there over an hour before showtime and was surprised to attend a public interview of the choreographer and learn more about the show. And in the middle of the foyer was a display of string instrumentalists playing snippets of the score as patrons arrived. I cannot comment on drinks but it was nice to see they had two themed cocktails, $4 bottled water, and a convenient offering of pre-ordering drinks to be picked up during intermission. The Joffrey Ballet's adaptation of Midsummer Night's Dream was surprising and amazing, I'd never thought I'd laugh and gasp so much during a ballet! Amazing, stunning talent across performers, set design, costume, and special effects. The Lyric Opera staff were also very courteous. All around astounding venue (smaller than Chicago Theater and Auditorium Theater but just as beautiful). Definitely treat yourself to a show here."
"Had a good time in this historically, beautiful venue. Architect will blow your mind. It is incredible, it. Is a take you back in a time where class and nostalgia, where everything I enjoyed classical music combined with a fashion show. What a great event. What a great venue? One of the jewels of Chicago."
"Joffrey Ballet's Nutcracker at Lyric Opera was pure magic! The dancers were incredible, mixing old and new dance styles seamlessly. The place was fancy, the music was great, and the holiday vibe was perfect. Totally recommend for a fantastic Christmas treat!"
"On a recent visit to catch the Joffery Ballet of Twas the Night before Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised to see this renovated Lyric Opera House of Chicago maintained it's beautiful 1920's Art Deco designs even in it's Lobby Chandeliers that if you look closely, wrought iron theater masks encase the Chandeliers. The staircases even reveal opulence of the 20's. Make sure to check out the beautiful Gold Guilded ceilings and panels once inside. The first row Balcony seats were plush and provided plenty of room as not be crowded by a larger person seated next to you. Unlike the Stunning Chicago Opera House, however a must see if a lover of architecture! Center 1st row Balcony seats provided balanced sound and views of the Ballet. Opera glasses are recommended for close up facial views. The Joffery adapted this famous Ballet to the beginning days of Chicago. Thoroughly an enjoyable performance! An absolute treat and highly recommend your visit."
"Amazingly beautiful opera house. It’s breathtaking once you first walk in and see the facade with gold trim. The architecture to make the stage a focal point is well designed and if you see a show here, you will not be disappointed. We saw the Little Mermaid Ballet and were very happy with the show."
