The Western Reserve Greenway, with 33 miles winding through Ashtabula County, is a picturesque trail that meanders along farms and through abundant wooded areas. The thick tree canopy provides cool shade, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely walk, run, hike, bike ride, or rollerblading, even on hot summer days. In winter, the trail is accessible for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, ensuring year-round enjoyment.

Lampson Road Pavilion serves as a convenient staging area on the Greenway. It is situated on the south side of Lampson Road, just 1/2 mile east of State Route 45 and 1-1/4 miles south of State Route 307. The pavilion is easily accessible from I-90, making it a perfect starting point for your outdoor adventure.

The trail is meticulously maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers and features benches, mileage markers, and 12 interpretive signs that detail the rich history of the Underground Railroad in Ashtabula County. The volunteer bike patrol provides information, assistance, safety, and trail maintenance, enhancing the experience for all users.

The Western Reserve Greenway, formally opened on July 15th, 2002, has been developed with significant community support and funding, including contributions from the Civic Development Corporation of Ashtabula and the Ashtabula Foundation. The trail construction adheres to federal guidelines, prohibiting motorized vehicles except for motorized wheelchairs and maintenance vehicles, with snowmobiles allowed during suitable winter conditions.
