"If I could do a 0 review I would. This place does not even deserve 1 star. We are talking neglect that resulted in death. My aunt was in there for rehab. She was supposed to only be there for a short amount of time then get discharged. My mom & her husband are her primary caregivers. My mom couldn’t go visit for a couple of days due to work, but every time she called they told her she is doing great, she is getting stronger day by day, she is doing physical therapy. My aunt was up, joking, laughing the last time they saw her days before. On Tuesday, October 16th at 11am, my mom called Valley Oaks and spoke to her nurse. My mom said “how is my sister doing?” The nurse said “she is doing really good today, she had breakfast, now she is getting ready to do physical therapy, she’s been up and moving” My mom said “Ok great that’s great to hear we will be up here in a few to visit her we don’t want to disturb her physical therapy”. My mom waited 2 hours, til 1pm to go visit her sister. She took a family friend and my aunt’s husband with her. They walked in to my aunt deceased. No nurses or aids anywhere to be found. Her call button was behind the bed (where it had been every time my mom came to visit her and she told the facility that she needed to have that close by, she was a fall risk she needed it to get help to the bathroom and everything), between her fingers was purple, behind her knees was purple, her AM meds were still sitting in a cup on her tray (it was 1pm). All that was on her tray was the meds not taken, her cell phone, and a cup of water. She should have had breakfast and then even lunch. My mom ran out of the room screaming, they were all three irate. My aunt’s husband got her button from behind the bed and pushed the alarm, no response. My mom went to the closest nurses station, no one to be found. She ran all the way down the hall to find a nurse screaming “my sister is dead I think!” And the nurse she encountered said “she can’t be dead ma’am we were just in there 15 minutes ago” (there is no way.) she casually walked past my mom and proceeded to walk down the hall to my aunt’s room as my aunt’s husband is screaming outside of her room to hurry up and help! She casually walks down and into my aunt’s room and starts to shake her saying “Miss come on you weren’t like this when we were just in here 15 minutes ago” my mom and my aunt’s husband are telling her she’s already gone, do something. She says “she isn’t gone, she’s still breathing” (she wasn’t). Finally more people come in they start doing compressions and make my mom, our family friend, and my aunt’s husband get out of the room. They call an ambulance, they take everyone outside. The administrator is asking if there is anything she can do, there isn’t because it is already too late, my aunt is gone due to their negligence. The ambulance leaves but before they do they turn their siren off. They take her to the local hospital and my mom and her husband get told to wait in the family waiting area, they know she is already gone at this point. The doctor comes in and says she had a heart attack. If she could have pressed her button, if someone would have been in there or around to check on her or to hear her struggle (it looked like she fought hard and struggled, her legs were up over the side of the bed), if they maybe even would have responded to my mom and her husband’s cries for help faster and not acted like they were exaggerating my spunky, funny, heart of gold aunt could still be here. If they didn’t neglect so many of their values that they state they follow my aunt could still be here. If they cared an ounce or maybe even if they thought “what if that was my family member laying there”, maybe then my aunt could still be here with the love of her life of 32 years instead of leaving him all alone. This is the ultimate form of neglect and we will do whatever we need to get justice for my poor beautiful aunt against this facility. My aunt died alone. Do not take your family members here please. It is devastating. We are all beyond heart broken."

"I was visiting today and had a resident stop me in the hall asking if I had any cookies. As we engaged in a conversation, a nurse who overheard my conversation approached and offered one of her own cookies from her lunch. To me, that shows all I need to know about how attentive and caring the staff are here."

"This place is not worthy of any stars.. If you truly care about the safety and well being of your loved one.. DO NOT send them to this place. You walk into this place and there are call lights on everywhere. It's dingy and smelly... Nurses are gathered at the nurses station talking and on their phones. My family member who Is currently here is not treated well. She is talked down to daily. She asks for something and she never gets it. If they do remember to bring what she asks for, it is HOURS later. I walked in one day and the AID was degrading and talking down right rude then turned around and seen me standing there and changed her tone.. "Acting" so nice! The food, well let's just say I wouldn't feed it to my dog. It is AWFUL!!! When asked for something else to eat you are made fun of, talked to ignorantly, and usually don't even get it. The ONLY one time the food and care was decent was when STATE inspectors were there.. The ONLY time!!! The bedding is NEVER changed and rooms are barely cleaned and sanitized. My relative had to ask for them to change her bedding!! They did not change it until days later!!! These issues have been addressed to the head of nursing and nursing home director and NOTHING has changed. The only decent staff are the therapist. The physical therapist DO treat the patients with care. People deserve so much better than this place is capable of providing. I would never recommend this place."
