"Almost like a Hollywood movie set - it’s unreal but this century old heritage area is truly pretty and picturesque, it makes it a must-visit in Alaska! In spite of the drizzle and cloudy skies, the quaint timber houses and cabins pop out in the brightest colours possible making the area so photogenic. The wildlife in the remarkably clean river is astounding. Where else in the world can you see seals catching live salmon in the middle of town? The shops offer some very nice craft items and local art work aside from the usual touristy merchandise. This attraction is not very big and so can get rather crowded especially when multiple cruise ships dock simultaneously. Go early!"
"The historic Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska is one of the most popular destinations (though not spectacular but it’s different) for the tourists. This is antique boardwalk on wooden pilings over the Ketchikan Creek. The views along the creek were beautiful and unique. There are many restaurants, locally owned shops, galleries and Dolly’s House museum etc on this street. You can also see salmon in the creek. This street is literally built over the water (creek). We took many photos here and bought souvenirs and mementos from here. Creek Street was Ketchikan’s old red light district. Creek Street is bordered on one side by Steadman bridge, which is red antique bridge. Our cruise ship was docked in downtown area, parallel to Front Street. It was an easy walk from there. We took a free shuttle bus that runs downtown loop and got down at Creek Street and walked around in this area. We also walked down to Cruise Ship Terminal area from here. The history was written on some of the buildings and poles. The street gets busy when many cruise ships arrive at Ketchikan Port. We decided to go against the packaged excursion tours and instead walked around the town to fill the history and town."
