"The manager of this store , Brian, went above and beyond to help me. I live in Washington State and wanted to get a decorated cake delivered to my son for his birthday. My son is currently living and working in Girdwood, and none of the stores in Girdwood carry any cakes. This may sound like a small task but it turned out to be a Herculean effort on Brian’s part. He was able to connect me with a store in Anchorage where they get their bakery goods from once a week. I ordered the cake and Brian picked it up on Friday in Anchorage and delivered it to the place where my son works in Girdwood. Between the time I ordered the cake and the time it was picked up it snowed three feet and the roads were really treacherous. I will forever be thankful to Brian for his efforts — the roads were horrible and it was no small feat to deliver that cake. The cake was beautiful and delicious, and a complete surprise to my son and his coworkers. I really appreciated all the effort Brian went to to help a little old lady from Washington State with a birthday surprise for her son."

"I just called this business twice in a row and both times I was greated by a lady that sounded somewhat as teenager or a young adult. The first time, I was greated and I stated that I was at the resort not too far from the store and wanted to know if the roadway to get to their establishment was open. She just hung up on me. I called again right away. I was greated nicely, again. I then immediately asked if they have baby products like baby food or baby milk and they just hung up again. I have no idea what's going on with the customer service out there."

"My daughter and I walked to this mercantile one day and found everything we needed. We did not have to ask for help, but when my mother-in-law did, she stated that the employee she talked to was rude and told her he didn't know where anything was. The staff we talked to was behind the counter and they were kind and cut up and joked with us. The aisles are tight, but that just means there is more merchandise that can be packed in to choose from. They have pretty much everything, you just have to look. We were happy with everything we purchased from the store and went back at least 4 more times to stock up on other items."

"Everything you can need while staying in Girdwood. They seem to manage to fit everything from hardware, to groceries, to over the counter medicines and vitamins, to firewood in their location at the corner of Hightower road. The employees are always friendly and chatting with someone, the convenience of a Carr’s/Safeway location with a local mercantile feel."
