"Absolutely stellar! We LOVE the Rec Center! The younger kids and my wife swim, and me and my older boys work out! There's a shooting range indoors, a CrossFit type area, two rooms with free weights, and one room with machines. There's a spinning room for cyclists, and a couple racquetball courts as well. Gymnastics, basketball, yoga, dance classes.... You name it, they've got it."

"Interested in working in an environment where you are othered because of differences you’re already insecure about? Interested in having a bunch of busy-bodied home-wreckers dictate your impression to an office of gossips? Are you looking to have none of your hard work appreciated because most of the minds working in this facility are stuck with the same personalities they had in high school? Look no further than the Evanston Recreation Center. If you’re not a friend of the individuals who run this establishment, don’t even bother applying unless you’ve developed a reputation as a coach or trainer. If you are a trainer and have used your sport to emotionally manipulate adults and children into feeding your ego, go ahead and apply. Bonus points if you made multiple children cry and quit. They love having people like you pretend to work while checking out patrons as they work out. If you apply and don’t know anybody who works there, be prepared to be gaslighted into thinking you’ve done everything wrong. You will be required to respect everyone else, but once you make a single mistake, they won’t ever have to respect you. You will be blamed for breaking things, equipment going missing, and not doing all your work and the work others didn’t do. Apply for their now-open maintenance job today! They look forward to bringing you to tears as they rip you apart during “team” meetings."

"We had the extreme displeasure in dealing with rec staff member Angie again. She is one of the rudest people we have had to deal with thru the rec. She is rude and obnoxious. She was so horrible this time that she literally frightened my children to the point that they don't want to go to the rec center, for fear of having to see her!(and this last contact with her was at a rec center event outside of the rec center)There were many witnesses to what happened to us, and several people that came up to us afterwards and expressed their disapproval in the way she treated us, and the overall way that she is in general. I think people need to remember that our tax dollars and hard earned money spent for entry fees and memberships is what pays these peoples salaries. Please speak up when you have issues. Bullies like her should not be allowed to continue treating people the way she does. She is able to do so because it is allowed. Hope to God she is not involved with children's programs at all. --as a side note, this review does not reflect on the parks and rec dept. only on the rec staff they choose to employ."

"What a great place! Everything you could want in a gym and a recreation center, and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The front desk people are especially nice. For what you get, this is one of the best bargains around. To me this is the best part about living in Evanston!"
