About the Business

Antelope Island State Park

Antelope Island State Park is a stunning tourist attraction located at 4528 West 1700 South, Syracuse, Utah, United States. Visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding on the park's backcountry trails, offering breathtaking views of the lake and island scenery. Primitive campsites are available for those looking to spend a night under the star-filled sky. Sandy beaches invite visitors to take a dip in the salty waters of the lake, while a visit to the historic Fielding Garr Ranch offers a glimpse into the past.

The park is home to free-ranging bison, mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorn (antelope), and a variety of desert animals. Birdwatchers will delight in the millions of birds that congregate along the shores of the island. Interpretive programs are offered year-round to enhance the Antelope Island experience.

One unique event at Antelope Island is the Shed Antler Hunt, which takes place on Tuesday, April 16. Participants can explore both the east and west sides of the island in search of shed antlers, with some areas off-limits to protect wildlife during sensitive times. The event is limited to 100 people, selected through a random draw process. A fee of $50 per person is required to participate, with all selected individuals meeting at the park gates at 6:00 am on the day of the event. The hunt concludes at sunset, with participants required to return to their vehicles.

"We have been visiting Salt Lake City over the years primarily to go snow skiing. We had a full day before we went back home to explore the area. I was looking at Google Maps on state parks to visit and this was close to Ogden & had awesome reviews. This was an amazing state park and we felt lucky that we had beautiful day to explore different parts as well as go hiking. It had amazing views of the mountains covered with snow and Salt Lake. We walked several short trails. We loved seeing the bisons freely roaming around and lucked out to spot an antelope roaming with the bisons."

"This is a must see! Take the time to drive up and see the amazing landscape and wildlife. No need to book a tour, if you have a rental car. It is $15 to enter the park and explore. The views are breathtaking, and the bison literally come up to your car. We went on a Thursday afternoon and only saw 2 other cars in the entire park."

"An hour from salt lake. If you have the time to kill and don’t feel like doing hikes for a view this is your place. You will see buffalo roam, but it is nothing like Wyoming bison or other viewpoints in the SLC area. Still spent a nice day here though. Pretty views for sure, I just feel it was a tad underwhelming."

"So incredibly happy that someone suggested going here. Plan on spending the whole day and don’t forget to reapply sunblock and wear a hat because you’ll be walking a lot. I love hiking and there were so many areas that we got to climb. It was so much fun. Seeing the Bison crossing made the day even better. We stopped in to see some history at the visitor center, which also offered a QR code that you scan and it provides an audio tour. Great feature, especially if you have the kids with you. We grabbed a bite at the Buffalo grill and found ourselves going back for more water there. Pretty good burgers so if you didn’t pack a lunch, definitely stop in."
