"It is rare to come across a provider that cares so genuinely for his patients. I first encountered Dr. Stewart at the OU College of Dentistry while he was pursuing his advanced residency training in complex dental treatment planning. I had just learned that severe root resorption caused by early orthodontic treatment would result in the loss of all four of my front teeth. I felt significant shame and embarrassment over my appearance and worried about the impact my missing teeth would have on my confidence as a young professional. Whether a stroke of luck, God ordained blessing, or just a total fluke, I was placed on Dr. Stewart’s caseload while he was refining his specific expertise in aesthetic and implant dentistry at OU. During our initial consultation and throughout each subsequent visit, Dr. Stewart allowed me to ask dozens of questions about my available treatment options and thoroughly explained the associated consequences and costs of each. After much discussion, we agreed to pursue a conservative approach, retaining my natural teeth for as long as possible prior to replacing each of my front teeth with an implant. When it was time, Dr. Stewart supported the placement of my first implant by utilizing multiple rounds of bone grafting to ensure a successful result. When it was finally time for a second implant several years later, I quickly searched to find where Dr. Stewart had settled into community practice, as I had not forgotten the high-quality care he had provided. Dr. Stewart has a naturally gentle and compassionate approach to his work. He was a clear favorite amongst his colleagues at OU which became clear as each time I mentioned his name to a team member they immediately raved over how “lucky” I was to be paired with Dr. Stewart. This is even more clearly evidenced by the fact that shortly after his completion of this residency, he received an invitation to return to the College of Dentistry as a community faculty member on a part time basis to invest in the education of the next generation of advanced dental practitioners. Dr. Stewart has a unique blend of clinical competence, warmth, desire for excellence, and an innate ability to disarm feelings of shame around dental care that sets him apart from his colleagues. He consistently strives to reduce anxiety and prioritizes patient comfort during all dental encounters. In fact – after a snafu with the pharmacy following my most recent dental implant – Dr. Stewart went so far as to leave his office and drive to my pharmacy all the way across town in the middle of his workday to resolve the issue directly while the electronic record system was down. I cannot think of another provider who would have gone to this length to ensure that my comfort was prioritized. I am not one to write lengthy reviews on the internet about my treating providers, but the care provided by Dr. Greg Stewart deserves to be recognized. He and his team work exceedingly hard to ensure that quality dental care is accessible and financially attainable for our community. If you’re looking for a dentist who is non-judgmental, kind as they come, thoughtful in approach, and will provide an honest and individualized treatment plan that makes best use of your resources, Dr. Stewart is your guy.
