The Pointe Academy

"This dance studio has a very bad history of commenting on the dancers’ bodies. Teachers have said, “You don’t have a ballerina body, your body looks more like tap or hip hop.” & “The moves don’t look good with your body” & other body shaming comments. When I found this out I was FUMING & frankly I still am! As a dance teacher myself who has been dancing for over 12 years I am baffled at how disgusting it is for a teacher to comment on a little girls body, causing them to have body image issues & self esteem issues as they grow older. & it’s even more sickening that the studio allows this to happen!!! The teachers - though I’m not positive are still employed - claim to be “professional dancers” but they have shown anything but professionalism. Save your child’s self esteem/body image & take them to a different studio that won’t discriminate. & remember: ALL BODIES ARE DANCER BODIES. Whether it’s ballet, tap, hip hop, ballroom, jazz, or lyrical/contemporary - it does NOT matter what body type you have. I am seriously disgusted & honestly disappointed in these teachers for commenting on a little girls body."

"This studio is focused on the health and well-being of its dancers and not just their talents. It is nice to see this balance as many other studios drive their dancers into the ground. Of course, The Pointe Academy has amazing (happy) dancers too!"

"High quality dance instruction, but it's completely overshadowed by the constant nickel and dime practices of their management and ownership. Constantly cracking down on any irregularity, passing merchant credit card fees onto the consumer (which happens almost nowhere in the country), and raising prices. They also are fond of arbitrarily cancelling class (but happy to charge you tuition anyway). If there was a way they could charge you for their thoughts, I'm sure they'd do it."

"When we walked into The Pointe Academy six years ago looking for a new dance studio (due to a move), we had no idea how important this place would become to us. The owner, directors, and teachers are top notch, the program is always improving, and everyone cares so much. It’s easy to find a dance studio that is technically sound (which the studio is), but what’s hard to find is a studio that feels like home. My daughter loves The Pointe academy and it will forever be family to us. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made!"
