"Great place to work out and play tennis without a huge crowd"

"Hi, I’m Robert Bybel (have lived in the Layton, Utah area for 2 plus years, currently 62 years in age hitting USTA but have been playing tennis for >50 years). For the readers edification! I recommend, do not patronize the Rise Athletic Club (RAC), 711 Parkway Dr, North Salt Lake, Utah. On a 1-10 scale I would score them as a 2. The facilities are in very poor condition. The owner and management do not treat their patrons in a courteous professional way. When first attending, they tell you that they are renovating the facilities (the courts surfaces have crakes/patches and club conditions are not up to average standards) but during my short time there the rates have been increased with no apparent club improvements noticed. Over the years I have hit tennis at many clubs in various locations and we have never experience the terrible treatment as by the current RAC owner/management representative. We left and are not planning on patronizing that establishment. Why you may ask, not just the poor club conditions but over the past year that my wife and I have been attending RAC, that is 2 people 3-4 times per month as non-members paying premium rates. The RAC management and representatives have, • Over charged my credit card (no apologies given, they acted like it was my fault for catching their error) • They did not schedule my wife and I for signed-up for events (several times). But one time, when my wife was ill, we failed to call and cancel our scheduled event, a widely attended (12-20 players) 1.5-hour cardio tennis group event. The day of that event, while I was driving to the club, a RAC management representative calls to give us a “hard time” for not notifying them about this AM’s non-attendance. I told the representative that I will be to the club in a few for an USTA tennis match and that we can talk then. After my USTA match the owner confronts us and said that “this will be a short conversation”, he acted very rude and arrogant, he orders me to apologize to his wife (not sure what she told him and I wasn’t sure for what) but before any reasoning he tells me that he doesn’t need my business. I do apologize to the owner’s wife for her inability to conduct herself in a professional pro-business manor. I do apologize to the owner for his failing business model. I do apologize to my wife for subjecting us to, • Very poor club conditions • A club owner and management that are just “bad” human beings."

"I love the upstairs cardio space and aerobics room! The pool is amazing and the whole facility is clean. So happy they opened up pickleball courts! I love that I can do a little bit of everything here!"
