"Gateway gave our son his future. Under the loving and patient guidance of the ENTIRE Gateway team he transformed from a boy avoiding school at all cost with a view of himself as stupid, unworthy of love, and minimal skills dealing with stressors and conflict to a proud young man with straight A's, able to advocate for himself and communicate effectively with words rather than isolation or aggression. Every employee we encountered over the 23 months our son was there had one goal: help these young men to become confident, productive members of society. It is hard admitting that for a time former strangers were better equipped to help my son than we were. I am grateful we found Gateway and entrusted our son to them. He is thriving at our local high school and preparing for college tours next semester, something we never thought would happen a little over 2 years ago. Thank you, Gateway Academy."

"Learning my son was going to need a residential treatment program to continue healing beyond the already extremely difficult decision to send him to wilderness for three months was devastating. When I met the Gateway family as I toured programs I felt like although my son was not returning home to me it was like he would be at a home away home as soon as I stepped onto the campus. Although the warmth, caring, love and competence across the board of this integrated program was readily apparent I had no idea that the family feel I felt my son would be welcomed into would also be extended to me as his mom. My twice exceptional (gifted with learning challenges) son with a lot of divorce trauma went from failing out of school in 9th grade while numbing his pain with screens and some light drug experimentation to getting straight A's in school. Far more impressive to me however, because his intellectual smarts were never a question was the emotional literacy this young man is now articulating. In addition to the incredible healing he gets from the integration of this incredible program he has rediscovered his joy for living. He is cooking, playing music, doing art, engaging in all sorts of activities and he is smiling and laughing again. My gratitude for the tireless family members who treat my son like their own 24/7 cannot be described in words. I cannot recommend this program highly enough if you want your sons back! Melanie P"

"Gateway Academy is an extraordinary place and a model for what all residential schools should be, in my opinion. Our son returned home last month after spending a year there. He is so grateful for this experience as he knows that it set him up for success in life. He was helped and challenged in all the right ways. The focus on the whole being is evident, for example, in the use of the philosophy of the Healthy Mind Platter. With yoga, meditation and outdoor sports built into the curriculum, the young men learn how movement and team work facilitate learning. The therapy component is outstanding. The therapists and educational staff are so talented and caring and clearly love what they do. The owners are excellent at hiring the right people. Safety was never an issue. Our son is now an excellent communicator, takes responsibility for his actions, is a champ at emotion regulation, is confident and independent (interdependent), and our family life has never been better. It took a huge leap of faith to send our son there and it was the best parenting decision we ever made."
