Reviews
"We have LOVED this school. My oldest son has been going here from k-4th grade so far. And my youngest from k to 1st grade so far. The staff have all been great. And they all seem to know my kids by name. My boys started out a bit behind in reading and they have both been making great improvements. The staff really seem to care about the students. We have not had a bad teacher yet. Love this school and I absolutely recommend it."
"Our grand daughters attend CS Lewis and we go every month to read with their classes. I am amazed at how dedicated the administration is to building a fun, safe and creative learning environment for their students. Every student is the most important student in the school. They really understand the special needs of their students and have excellent programs to help every student thrive."
"My daughter has been with CS Lewis since kindergarten. She is starting 2nd grade this year. We love it here! The administration, the teachers, and other faculty are amazing! I live two blocks from a school and choose to drive to another town for my daughters education."
"My child has been at CS Lewis Academy for two years now. We have had a great experience. The mission of the school is literacy focused and they do much emphasize this. Beginning in kindergarten children are expected to write on their own every day. They are expected to read daily and hold regular school wide reading competitions. My child has regular music and Spanish classes each week and those teachers also use literature and reading in their lessons. On top of music and Spanish class, there are other extracurricular classes such as science, art, technology, typing and more. They also use leveled learning for math, which I think is very beneficial. The teachers are dedicated to seeing their students succeed. They always seem to have high energy and enthusiasm. You can tell that they care deeply for the children attending. They love parent volunteers and want parents to be actively involved in their child’s education. It is required to volunteer 40 hours a school year (whether at home or at school) and even with two younger children I have found it is very easy to help at the school in the classroom, lunchroom and office. The administration staff is wonderful! The director, Mrs. Nelson is always striving for the best for her students! She seems to know all of the students and the students love her and are happy to approach her. She is constantly seeking for ways to improve the school and make it the best experience for everyone. She seeks out and writes grant requests for the school regularly. One time I emailed her after school before a long weekend about how I felt the pick up and drop off situation at the school had become unsafe and she immediately responded and took action. By the beginning of the next school week she had implemented a safer pick up plan, which everyone seemed to respond to positively as everyone was being safer and pick up became quicker and easier. The school board and PTO has a great group of parents who spend countless hours doing everything they can to help meet the needs of the student population. As a “Room Mom” I asked the PTO permission to hold a classwide fundraiser to get regularly used school supplies for my child’s class. They immediately decided to do a school wide supply collection and helped every teacher get supplies for their classroom. They really make everyone attending the school feel connected to each other with their regular activities and events. The school itself is bright and welcoming to be in. They have a strict “locked campus” with every entrance locked from the outside at all times. The grounds are also gated and locked. They do question visitors who buzz to request entry. Every visitor is required to sign in. I have been combing my mind trying to think of something negative I could add to this review, and honestly, I cannot think of something. Because of my past experiences I believe that if I did think of something negative and went to the school board, PTO or administration, that they would take action to fix anything that needed to be without delay. We have loved our time spent at this school for kindergarten and first grade."
"My son thrives in the leveled reading and math programs. He says it's nice to be able to learn at his own pace! Great faculty, staff, and students!"
