"Don’t come here if you have a child with special needs. My 3 year old has autism and we work with him daily on behavior boundaries and things of that nature. Today while visiting the museum he tried to go under a chain to a set up that had a bed. I pulled my son back as soon as he tried to do it and let him calm down on the floor out side that exhibit. A man came up to us and asked if everything was okay. My teen son said yes I’m sorry my little brother tried to go on the bed and he got upset that we didn’t let him. The man then started to lecture us on how he can’t get on the bed for his safety and the chain was to indicate the exhibits are not safe to touch. No kidding you don’t think? I had not allowed this behavior I had removed my child who had a meltdown as he’s autistic. I was in the middle of explaining to my child about the chains and that the bed was just for pretty looks. I told this man politely that my son has autism that he does not fully understand and that we did not allow him to touch the bed and removed him. That the reaction was due to the re-direction of his behavior. This man said okay and repeated the whole thing again. I sir understand English and also know autism and how to deal with re-direction and meltdowns. So sir understand special needs people will exist around you in life. Read about them understand them. I did not need or want your judgement or biase disrespect. If my kid was let to climb all over things I would understand the addressing things but I did not allow it and I was literally explaining to him about safety and that he can’t do what he wanted. I hope no one with a special needs family member ever comes to your museum as long as you work there. I left because the words I wanted to say were not in character for myself. You may not be so lucky with the next mama. You also may not keep your job if you continue discriminating practices once someone lets you know you’re interacting with a special needs person and you continue your lecture that was not justified or needed."

"One can plan for a trip from Dallas to Sherman for a whole day. A few of the places in Sherman is the sherman museum. It will take at least 30 to 40 minutes if you want to go through all the items within the museum in details. If someone wants to just browse through, I think 10 minutes to 15 minutes is good enough time. There are other areas in the vicinity of this museum which you can see through. This museum holds quite a good amount of historic items and the item ranges from 100 years to 200 years. The other few items of interest at the dinosaur's bones, which hopefully is millions of years of the past. Good place to take your kids and show how America is a continent used to look like in millions of years in the past and which all animals used to ROM around on this part of the land."

"I highly suggest going to see the rest of that T-Rex I posted! We had such a good time with not just the exhibits but also the Dino activities! We even got to pretend to be Paleontologists with the dino dig they had set up. I think we are definitely going to be looking into the summer camps they have scheduled for our 6 year old!"
