Goodwill

"Never really had a bad experience until Saturday morning. One employee was talking to the other about a physical altercation with a grandparent (it was loud enough for the entire store to hear it). Picked up a drawing and went up to where the line starts as there is no way to tell which register is open and stood there for about 3 minutes while listening to the employee conversation. It was known that I was waiting as there was eye contact between myself and the employee, yet they did not move. I walked out"

"If a zero star was possible this Goodwill would receive it. This is the second time I had a very bad experience with this store: I decided to give this store a second chance since it is the only one that I know of in Gallup NM. They do not offer any discounts: none for color of the week, for military, seniors, or educators. The worst is that they have gone “green” therefore no bags to carry out all of the items that one purchases to repurpose. This last visit today 6/11/21: not only was I unable to acquire a bag, do they have bags to sell like California as they have gone green as well, nor did they offer paper to wrap the very fragile items that I purchased. Yes we could have told the cashier to return the items, but that is against what I believe and the Goodwill brand believes in: offering possibilities to people in need with the resale of items. I believe that corporate should look into this Goodwill as they are conducting business unlike any other Goodwill I have shopped: rather it be in California, New York or any of the locations In between I visit whenever I am in an area that has a Goodwill. Point is simple; this Goodwill and their employees are not welcoming to its patrons: no “welcome to Goodwill” as you enter, no bags for convenience, no respect for the very people who donate and purchase items there."

"The store might not be as varied as other Goodwills in bigger cities, but it would be silly to expect it in a smaller city like Gallup. The store was clean and the staff was very friendly. My favorite part was the translations on the signs!"

"It's a Goodwill- don't go in expecting new, name-brand stuff for free and you'll be pretty happy with it. Prices are fine- some "boutique" items that are better brand or nwt will be higher priced but still reasonable. The staff is friendly and polite. The building could use an overhaul in the next couple years, but it's nothing too bad and the staff keeps it pretty clean. ****update**** This store was remodeled not long after my original review. Have changed rating to reflect the improvement!"
