Small Steps Child Counseling

"I wish I could give this place zero stars. The doctor sent in a referral for therapy and Julie called to set up an appointment. I immediately called back and was sent to voice mail. No one called us back. I called back several times and got voice mail over and over. I finally got in touch with a real live person and she told me Julie was on her way out of the office and they no longer have the opening. Maybe these counselors need to get a secretary that will actually answer the phones or actually call people back."

"This office has a lack of communication between staff members.. and communication with clients. There has been multiple incidents. I attempted to discuss these issues and concerns with the “business operations manager” , she kept interrupting me as I was trying to explain my concerns and issues. She was very rude and aggressive , claimed she was being direct. Considering her behavior towards me makes me eery about the office as a whole, especially being a children’s therapy office. Very unprofessional and unsettling experience."

"This was undoubtedly the most disappointing experience I've ever had. Brian Mabary stands out as one of the least capable therapists I've ever encountered. The way they handled my communication needs, showing discrimination and a complete lack of accommodation, is something that will stay with me. Most of the therapists at this facility seem to be fresh out of college and lacking in experience. In all honesty, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially because I felt they put my children at risk. Moreover, it's concerning that they couldn't even identify someone with narcissistic sociopathic traits. It's clear that the reputation of this establishment is a top priority, and it seems that my concerns were brushed aside in an effort to protect it. I did attempt to discuss this issue with you, but it seemed like you were eager to part ways out of fear that I might take legal action for discrimination. I value honesty, and that was sorely lacking in this experience."

"My kids have seen different therapists at Small Steps over the years. They are always kind and listen to the children and the parents! We have one adopted child and Small Steps was there for us at the beginning when multiple kiddos in our household needed some extra care around that. Later on one kiddo needed another year of therapy. Or maybe mom and dad did! Our therapist helped US just as much as our child in learning how to see the situation from multiple perspectives and give us greater insight into what our child might be facing. So thankful for Small Steps!"

"After my 3 grandchildren were removed from their parents custody and placed in my home, we were referred to Small Steps Child Counseling. Courtney has been amazing with all 3 of them. She would come out to our house once a week for a year and do fun activities with them. She would work with them as a group and also one at a time. They loved her visits. She played a big part in helping them adjust at home and in school. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing counseling for their child or children."
