Reviews
"I go here to manage my chronic pain. The staff is excellent & the care is fantastic! I wouldn't want to go anywhere else."
"Don't go here if you need opiates. Now have to wait another week for a new referral to go through and have 0 pain management. This is why people do drugs from the streets."
"Doctors like this are why people seek out pain pills from the street. I've been in regular pain for almost 14 years but they won't even give me an appointment because women's menstrual pains aren't valid to them. This is ridiculous! Way to be part of a larger system of ignoring women. Birth control should not be the only option for SERIOUS, DEBILITATING PHYSICAL PAIN THAT HAPPENS FOR A WEEK OUT OF EVERY MONTH."
"I'm here to talk about some of the glowing reviews that defend the mistreatment and cruelty that patients who have safely and successfully used opiate pain medications for years are now subject to. Government is the reason. Threats to providers cause them to react out of fear and not the patient's well being. People who drank the koolaid about the "crisis" and are unaware that ILLEGAL STREET FENTANYL, not prescription medications, was responsible for the "crisis" need to get educated. When a patient on opiate pain meds prescribed to them for years is suddenly expected to just stop taking them or substitute suboxone (which is for addiction, not long term chronic pain) they can die. Many providers will not even offer a gradual taper or wean, even though they know it is the medically acceptable way. Forced weaning is only supposed to occur if misuse or addiction occurs, it is risk vs benefit and shouldn't even happen in patients stable on the medications. It's unethical. Period. Until doctors understand that people are dying needlessly and that the "harsh" state laws (and federal interference btw) are actually causing massive pain and suffering which is unethical, as well as death, we are in trouble. Tell the CDC to stop trying to practice medicine and revoke the ridiculous and not medically sound "guidelines" they have forced on long term pain sufferers. It's barbaric not to treat pain. It causes people to die sooner. And the FACT is that patients who have successfully improved their health and quality of life over many years using opiates have very low rates of addiction, which is totally different from dependence. If you want to get more information just Google something like "mistreatment of chronic pain patients" or "chronic pain advocacy groups", and start facing the facts. Oh btw, these patients are NOT getting high. Those of you who leave reviews which insinuate that opioids are fraught with dangers are uneducated as to the facts. You may consider all the injections and ablations more "reasonable" but they do not work for everybody and they do have side effects as well. Stop judging. Insinuations that any pain patient is just looking for a high or is an addict is not helping matters. The govt is killing people. Doctors are helping."
"The UNM Pain Management & Treatment Center is #1, The Best, Top Notch, etc. The Drs are all very caring & do the very best they can for chronic pain patients WITHIN the limits the strict New Mexico law allows. If you're looking to get high - go somewhere else. If you're an honest & realistic pain patient they'll bend over backwards to help you. Pain Patients be realistic, they can't make your pain a "zero", but they can make it "Livable" if you do your part by doing your PT exercises & learning how to cope / live with Chronic Pain thru psychotherapy / meditation / self hypnosis and other therapies such as bio-feed back, tens units, etc. Laughter is a great medicine it releases the bodies own "pain meds" in the brain. Laying in bed crying will just make you hurt twice as much - do ANYTHING to avoid it. I love my Drs at the clinic they are the BEST. I've been a patient there since 2015 & a chronic pain patient for well over 25 years."
