UNM Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services (OSIS)

"Horrible!.. horrible!..Experience! Waited For almost six months to see this orthopedic doctor. Major shoulder injury . Brought in my MRI CD for the doctor can review. According to the MRI there is a Tear. Doctor thinks all I needed after hour and a half wait in his office. Was a Shot for pain and inflammation. So taking my only option after I said I got that same shot five months before from my Primary doctor. But That he still assisted that this Was his only solution to my shoulder tear.If something tears don’t you half to stitch it back for it’s not a tear and stops hurting me? Also stop from expanding into a greater tear? Giving he is a orthopedic surgeon he stuck that needle so deep into my shoulder I yelped. He said your gonna be sore ice it & come back in six weeks to see how it going. No other medication offered or anything else. I’m sorry but after two hours waiting and says like nothing come back in six weeks ? . I wish he be more concerning at that point of time. . Appointment after appointment? The doctor made me fill very Unconfident and upset. I felt that he had no Urgency. At the end of it all I’m back at square one. Making me feel like there is nothing wrong with my shoulder besides a lil tear. Understand only me myself knows how hard it is gonna be for me to leave here and continue to use my Injured shoulder. I do have a serious injury maybe a tear to him is not the same as my tear in my shoulder? TRASH! I’ll be taking my business & Shoulder injury elsewhere."

"Antonia Leyva on windows 5 (surgery check-in was very rude. The clinic called for an early surgery, and when checking in, Ms. Leyva alleged that we were rude when we we discussing if we should wait and get scheduled to the original date of surgery. She stated the our insurance did not approve the pre-authorization and we need to sign the liability form or UNM will not do her surgeries, this meant they are refusing medical treatment and forcing us to sign the fir for medical care at any point beyond this contact. I asked her fir her last name but she refused,however, we saw a 10 years recognition at UNM with her last name so I took a picture, she tell me enjoy your picture. I told her she should get fired for treating people like the. She subsequent told other staff, they were all steering at us."

"This clinic is staff challenged!! Appointment time was at 7am check in time 630am. 40 minutes after appointment time we find out they don’t have a tech on staff and that we can wait for someone to show up. Needless to say they want their patients here 30 minutes prior to the appointment but yet they don’t inform us they don’t have anyone on staff. They should inform their patients of delays."

"First our appt was delayed due to the doctors having a personal emergency, ok whatever. Then was rescheduled and told that my Dad's appt was at 6am , when checking in they changed it to 10am ( we dont have transportation so were stuck 4HOURS!!!!.) This clinic is a disgrace!"

"I've been to OSIS for Sports Orthopedic care, and imaging services, several times with really good results. Support staff have been very helpful, clear and the waits have usually been reasonable. I've had very good care from Dr. Richter and recommend him highly. Visits with him have been short and sweet, very good communication: good questions, good listening, good responses. He pays attention, really important. Treatment has been very, very helpful."
