Reviews
"This is a delayed review by at least 6 mos… maybe more. The atmosphere in this salon is really nice. I liked how bright and open and airy it felt, and the receptionist was more than cordial. so was my stylist at first, but as soon as I began talking about my hair and what I was looking for, the invalidation I received had me worried. My hair is fine, not very dense, with loose curls that need to be gently encouraged with light product to hold. At the time of this cut, my hair was shoulder length. I attempted to communicate that I wanted ultimately a more rounded shape and I was unhappy with how my last cut (different salon) had my front curls pointed up and out and not flattering. My stylist raked her hands through my dry, clean, unstyled hair and questioned “your hair is curly?” and she said my styling was probably the problem, not the cut. Which I accepted as possible even though she wasn’t seeing my hair styled. It became pretty clear that my stylist was used to different type(s) of texture than mine, and through the course of less than 30 min. she gave me a dry trim, and then used a bunch of product mixed with water and finger-teasing to create a bit of a helmet of tangled frizz. She did not attempt to define my texture by styling wet and then adding product. I was too shocked and embarrassed of what I looked like to make an issue, but I quickly paid and left. I washed out and restyled when I got home to see what I left the salon with… which was just a trim. Not bad, just not what I paid for. Dense Curls and coils are probably more common than other textures, but if you’re advertising as a curl/wave specialist, I would hope that you would understand that texture comes in more than just tight, springy curls or waves, and adjust your technique accordingly."
"First time client to this salon and I had a wonderful experience with Sofia. She really did a good job listening and executed a beautiful long layered textured haircut . Sofia is also super friendly and made the experience lovely. I will definitely be back."
"I love this salon. I’ve seen many of the stylists and all of them have done a fantastic job with my hair. It’s such a calming atmosphere with all the plants. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is that if it’s winter, it’s freezing in there and the last time the water was so cold that my head felt numb after the shampoo. I love the salon so much that I would sit through the cold for it. :)"
"This review is delayed, but it has taken me a while to get the nerve to say what I need to say. It’s really hard to give a bad review about a service when a person and/or place has historically been very amazing. In August I had a really bad experience. To be fair my “transformational haircut” was booked in June. I have seen Nayo before, loved it, loved her. I sent photos, and we talked about it. However when the appointment came up she had to cancel and rebook. I was booked in August. I booked the last appointment of the day, so we had time. Context: I was 1 year postpartum. My hair is finally growing back. But my baby is grabbing it and I’ve done a “pixie” cut before and wanted to go back to it. I have had an undercut for years, Nayo has worked with me. The day of: I show up 15 minutes early. She gets to me 20 minutes late. No biggie, the location, staff, and atmosphere are chill. I start talking about my cut, and I come with my curl down & dry. I also had the images to work from. Nayo seems fairly bothered about my indecisiveness— I needed her guidance. She also didn’t remember we had already gone over things and seemed bothered, I had to remind her we went over this and she canceled on me. She begins to cut 1/2 the amount I want. She goes to great lengths with texture, product, curling and a blow/dry. I’m thinking “this is way longer than I want but perhaps she is being safe, not sorry.” But then she sits me back down in her chair. She does a diagonal cut to the short length I wanted. Sticky, long & small hairs are sticking to me. I am in shock. She asks me how I like it, and I tell her “I think it’s bulky or blunt.” She tells me “I can tell you this is NOT a blunt cut.” Maybe I was using the wrong words, she needed to texture the straight/diagonal cut she did on my head. YES, she spent time doing texture and then cut a straight line right through that. Her co-workers are checking in with her to see when she will be done. I ask her if I’m keeping her from something, trying to hint that I feel really rushed. She assures me “I’m fine” and it’s just some prep they are doing for something later. Again she asks me how I feel about my cut, I tell her “when a blade cuts at one length my curls will bind together and make one bulk curl” and I felt like it was bulky. She tells me again, this time more sure, “this is NOT a blunt cut.” I’m embarrassed at this point. I lie. I tell her it’s great. I pay my almost $200, she wants to rebook me, I tell her “I feel like I stressed you out, is there anyone else in the shop who might want to do short curly hair like mine?” To which she says “no, I’m the transformational specialist.” I even asked about someone who I saw cutting a pixie cut while I was there and she said, “well no.” She rebooks me for October and go home. I’m crying. When I get home I see she didn’t even attempt to taper around my ears, where my ears are now showing— I’m not asking for design clipper work, just not long hairs touching my ears on a pixie cut. I shower because sticky (tons of product) hair is all over me, my clothing, and it won’t come off. I try to mimic curling my curly hair but BECAUSE she styled my hair, dried my hair, and then did a 5 inch cut the curl is not the same. Of course my hair is never going to curl like that again because the weight of the long hair gave it the curl that she then cut off into the pixie cut. I’m devastated. What made me finally write this is I got the nerve to cancel the October appointment. I was rushed. My needs were ignored. Even my message of “perhaps going to someone else” was not heard. I’ve been coping with my hair since the cut. I even got clippers on my own to clean around my own ears. I then put texture on the area that caused huge bulk around one part of my head. I spent 2 hours to fix it. I’ve spent months coping with it. I don’t feel safe going back. I love the atmosphere, products, and personalities. I don’t think I’ll be going back, unless Jen comes back or they have someone who wants to spend time on something so personal."
"Mani, did an absolutely amazing job! Very professional This is my first time coming here and I will be returning. Mani, was very friendly , nice and professional. The place was real clean and pretty. If you are looking for someone to cut, color and/or style your hair I would recommend coming here. I love how my hair came out. It is very hard to trust someone with your hair. Mani, did amazing and made me feel comfortable. Thank you Mani!"
