"I've been a volunteer at Hinds Feet for over 10 years. I work with the Pen Turning Program. We teach participants how to make a pen out of wood using a mini-lathe. The process helps students learn about many things such as patience, decision making, safety awareness, following instructions, creative expression, problem solving and more! It's also Fun! Hinds Feet is a safe place for kids dealing with serious issues. They offer experiential and adventure based therapy as well as life skills and healthy recreation alternatives- hiking, jewelry making, ceramics, leather craft, drawing, and more. They are faith based, however, services are open to all without judgement or imposing personal values or beliefs. They are starting up a new adventure based program for teens and are looking for volunteers and clients who would like to participate."
