About the Business
Whittier Cafe is a unique and socially conscious cafe located at 1710 East 25th Avenue in Denver, Colorado. As Denver's only African espresso bar, we proudly source all of our coffee from various African nations, where coffee was first discovered.
Known as "The activists' coffee shop," we are dedicated to social justice and support related causes through our justice fund. We invite you to take a break with a cup of coffee or contribute to our cause.
Join us every Sunday at 2 p.m. for our East African Coffee ceremony, where we roast and brew coffee in the traditional clay pot known as "jebena." We also offer beer and wine from different African nations to enhance your experience.
At Whittier Cafe, coffee is our specialty. Come in and enjoy a unique coffee experience from the continent. If you have any questions or would like to book our circle table for your book club or discussion group, send us a message and we will respond promptly.

Every coffee drink is hand crafted with care -- I haven't experienced this level of integrity and attention to detail at a cafe in a long time. Ex: refoamed the almond milk multiple times until the barista was satisfied... without me asking. Others have raved about the breakfast burritos -- yes they are THAT good! Atmosphere reflects the Ethiopian heritage of the owners. Highly recommend."
"Lovely neighborhood cafe! The vegan burrito and the veggie panini were both delicious. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Outlets available. Went on a Monday afternoon and found parking right in front of the cafe."
