Reviews
"Dr. Jeffrey Gagliano and his team are excellent. He repaired my collarbone about a year ago; it was severely broken into five pieces and was nearly ready to break through the skin. As a cabinetmaker, I consider his choices in how to reassemble well thought through and carefully carried out. His team is attentive and both try to listen, let alone give intelligent and helpful advice. I am unsure there is a doctor who could do a better job. I paid out of pocket, and although his cut was very low in the overall situation, he and the staff were kind in their sympathy for me having to do so. Highly recommended! A++ (As an aside; I rarely give reviews)"
"Dr Gagliano not only has bad people skills he also has no caring towards the patients recovery. I sat 40 mins in the exam room and when the doctor came in he was unprepared. He said he needed an x-ray and MRI which I had with me and I had given to the receptionist. He asked which ankle and knee when it was only my ankle. He did not explain that a "sprain" with a completely torn and another partially torn ligament is not just a sprain! His only advice was rub ice on it and take time off work if I can! He Never explained the ligaments and how they can reattach on their own. He Never explained the damage in my ankle. He only quizzed me on my pain level and my level of mobility. He pushed me to give him numbers and percents of my condition. He was very aggressive and not sympathetic at all. I was there 75 mins for nothing but how to rub ice on my ankle. Obviously this doctor only cares if he is making money on surgeries and not at all on his patients. Waste of time and money. I would never go back to this doctor or his unprofessional practice."
"FOR YOUR SAFETY, DON'T GO TO THIS OFFICE IF YOU HAVE MEDICAID **ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE FEMALE** A lot of docs have a bias against patients with Medicaid. It's often explicit, with protocol which differs from how they treat everyone else. **I THINK** This office is no exception. It's just that this office did it to somebody who has the very specific life experience to understand it, and the very specific mental health issues to be especially harmed by it. Unfortunately, I couldn't put this into words here for years. I've been dealing with the trauma, as well as physical therapy and surgery for the wrists, that were a direct result of my experiences at Boulder Bone & Joint. Please Note: 1. I am neurodivergent. I didn't know this until later. It's thanks to these guys that I had to work so hard on my mental health, but I'm much stronger as a result. That's worth 1 star. 2. I worked as a certified pharmacy technician for 3 years in 2 states. Techs fill Rxs, talk to doctors and their offices about unusual or suspicious prescriptions, and handle insurance, among other things. I know about the things bad docs do to harm and "deter" patients, usually ones on Medicaid, who they believe are just trying to get pills. This happens, to actual people, all the time. 3. I happened to need Medicaid at one point in my life, but I'm also a violinist, with a husband and family, pets, hobbies, and a life that is meaningful. I'm a person, just like all of you, who deserves the basic respect you should afford all people. Take this to heart. I've been here for multiple visits. The 1st was ~8 yrs ago, for my ankle. I went for my wrists several times, a couple of years ago. The 1st visit was fine, I don't remember which doctor I saw. I hurt my ankle while moving to Boulder, and had to sign up for Medicaid, as I didn't have a job yet. This shouldn't matter, but by the end, when they learned more info and realized they had misjudged, the treatment I got changed drastically. Between the first 2 visits, I got married (joined my husband's insurance), got a job, and then lost it at the start of the pandemic. Then I injured my right wrist. I was unemployed, and as far as the office knew when I called, still on Medicaid. During the 2nd visit, for my R wrist, I was met with open hostility from both the front desk and Dr. Wertz. I received care that was blatantly substandard. He asked no questions. He hardly looked at me. He was rude, cruel, and disrespectful. I didn't have the capacity to understand why everyone was so angry with me. This experience was hurtful and bewildering and would have taken plenty of effort to get over even without the rest. What happened then was much worse. I was supposed to get a steroid injection in my R wrist. It feels wrong to say so little about the worst thing that ever happened to me, but idk how much I should put here. It was beyond the norm. This appointment traumatized me. It broke me and it was intentional. The last appt was for my L wrist, which began to hurt just like my R wrist, so I came in to get a steroid injection. I asked what drug had been injected at the last appt and found out that they had no record for at least one of my visits. The treatment was completely different than what happened before. For example, Dr. Wertz was assisted, used alcohol-based disinfectant, had visibly labeled vials with self-sealing tops, and used a numbing shot. The difference between the treatments was night and day. **I THINK** This office treated me like this because they believe that Medicaid patients are morally bad ppl trying to scam their way to pain drugs. If you have Medicaid and they think they've caught you trying to score opiates, this is what they do. I'm sure I'm not the first or last person this happened to. They do this and get away with it because the people they harm don't always know what's going on and can't advocate for themselves or fight back. They count on this. I want to make sure that vulnerable people know to STAY AWAY FROM BOULDER BONE AND JOINT. You risk real harm."
"Dr. Gagliano is AMAZING, knowledgeable and honest. He saw my son for a dislocated shoulder and ordered the MRI etc. The reason for 2 STARS: Had our follow up appt to drive 30 mins to the location, missed work & school to tell us we didn’t have an appt. I told them I called that I’d be a few mins late and was placed on hold for 10 mins and hung up. Only for the lady to say “we have no missed calls”. I was on hold and it was a gentleman who then responded with “we’re a busy office” I get that but the wrong thing to say. Very rude staff and blamed it on turnaround. I understand that but to not be able to see my son for 10-15 mins appt that we booked 6 weeks ago to make this correct and to sound like it’s my problem! They need new front desk staff. We will be going elsewhere. And call the day before to confirm your appt which I guess I made the mistake of doing."
"I was referred here when I broke my leg skiing. The injury was fairly significant, requiring a plate and pins with a recovery time of about 1 year. I am so grateful to Dr Wertz and his staff. Dr Wertz has decades of experience handling injuries and surgeries like mine. I’ve felt in good hands since day 1, and it’s been over 6 months since my accident. This whole ordeal would have been much more painful without a great team to support me. I would recommend Dr Wertz to anyone with knee related pain / injury."
