"The stay at this place was terrible. Lack ventilation in the bathrooms (cabins 4 and 6) caused what appeared to be black mold. The managers said it was "black water spots" from a construction crew that stayed there the week prior. If that's the case it was left filthy and not cleaned. They also said in email correspondence that they were going to get it tested to be sure of what is was and then sent me an email saying I am blocked and banned from contacting them. The health department will be contacted to get an answer. The LP heater didn't work in cabin 4 for most of the stay. The maintenance man (manager) brought an electric heater which continually would blow the breaker if you had anything more than that plugged in. In his words, "I could mess around trying to get this to work all day but I am not going to waste my time. These heaters are old and need to be upgraded." Many mornings it was 40 degrees in that cabin. We had an 8 day trip planned and were supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and no extra garbage bags. I like many others do not want to constantly have to ask for consumables like this. When I go on vacation I don't want to be bothered or have to ask for something so simple as these items. The gas grill top just fell off when picked up after trying to light. The LP tank for the grill was empty as well. The new managers need to get it together. Oh yeah, that gaudy bus parked in the front row doesn't do any favors for the place. I hope this all gets fixed up as the views were great but the stay was not. Response to owner: 1. I never expected a full refund. Nowhere in our correspondence in email did it say that. 2. I never stated the furnace was too large for the cabin. I am not paying for wood in a place that is supposed to have LP heat. I want a warm cabin when I get home. Was that too much to ask? 3. I was banned and blocked when I asked multiple times where the "black spots" would be tested at and a time frame for doing so. Apparently that was too much to ask. If these "Threats and demanding language" are too much to give an open and honest answer to then maybe there's more to the story. The "threatening and demanding" language is also probably as you put it in your response on another issue, "was a disconnect or misunderstanding." 4. I could care less about the measly 15% you were going to reimburse me. What matters is that a safe AND clean environment is being provided by you as the host. 5. "years worth of water stains" pretty much makes the cleanliness point. 6. The only complaint you did not know about was the "black water stains." As I stated in email, where were we going to go over halfway through our stay? In another cabin that had the same issues?"

"Elk point lodge is beautiful! I would recommend staying here to anyone looking to stay in the area. A few friends and I were on a backpacking trip when the weather took a turn for the worst. We decided to stop by to see what the lodge had to offer, and the owners were very gracious. Nolan and Olive were fantastic hosts and were truly the saviors of our trip to lake Vallecito. Both owners gave us great fishing advice and help our friend catch his first fish. They provided a very homely environment and stopped by to help out whenever they had the chance. They cabins themselves are fantastic, a ton of amenities in a somewhat remote area. The lodge provides various watercraft’s, great hang out areas, and amazing views of the lake! I will definitely return here for another vacation when the weather is warmer. Thank you Nolan and Olive for making our stay so memorable!"

"We really loved our stay in the amazing Hummingbird Cabin. We went for a romantic getaway and it really hit the mark! We spent three nights and already can't wait to go back. We grilled everyday on our private deck. Our deck's hot tub every night for sunset was wonderful. Each day, we either walked along the beach with our dog or used the lodge's paddle boards and kayaks on Vallecito Lake. The cabin was well equipped, decorated perfectly, and super clean and cozy. The fall sunshine and changing leaves were an added bonus. What a gem!!!"

"Another great stay at Elk Point Lodge! The scenery is gorgeous. We enjoy staying here because it is so peaceful being able to overlook the lake and the mountains. We relaxed on the larger deck, which was appreciated! The stars were awesome at night! The gas grill had to be replaced, since the lid was broken and burners did not work. The management replaced our grill."
