About the Business

Pat Schroeder Visitor Center

The Pat Schroeder Visitor Center is located at 6550 Gateway Road in Commerce City, Colorado, United States. This travel agency is the perfect starting point for exploring the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, one of the largest urban refuges in the country. The refuge offers a tranquil sanctuary away from city life, where visitors can enjoy expansive views, wildlife viewing opportunities, and various recreational activities.

Established in 2004, the refuge is dedicated to protecting the national symbol, the bald eagle, and has a unique history transitioning from farmland to a wildlife sanctuary. Visitors can experience the beauty of the refuge through the 11-mile Wildlife Drive auto tour, where they can listen to podcasts that provide information about the wildlife and history of the area. The drive takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete and is free of charge.

The National Wildlife Refuge System focuses on wildlife conservation, ensuring the survival of native species and habitats. The staff at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge work tirelessly to conserve natural resources for the enjoyment of current and future generations. By working with others to protect and enhance wildlife and their habitats, they strive to benefit the American people.

Visiting the refuge is a great way to connect with nature and learn about conservation efforts in action. The Pat Schroeder Visitor Center invites visitors to explore the refuge and experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.

"Nice place with all information about the park. They have both historical and wildlife artifacts in this building. Great place for kids to educate on wildlife. They have bison prairie dogs and some bird egg samples along with technology artifacts. Inside the center there are restrooms, drinking water taps, information center and maps available. You can contribute to the refuge camp by donations. The staff is super friendly and easy going. They have bison Mark's footprints on the floor. Some preserved coyote skin, birds, snakes , etc."

"Loved the small but decent exhibit, particularly the taxidermied wildlife. The gift shop was pretty decent too, and I want to come back by and maybe buy a shirt. Cute cards, magnets, and some snacks and beverages, among other things."
