"I was not impressed. He sat down and asked questions, but really didn’t address my concerns. It seemed like I was taking his valuable time. His bedside manner was not friendly. I’m sure he’s an excellent vascular surgeon, but he could be a little more personable."

"My mom is 90 years old and threw a blood clot to the arm. Neither Iowa Methodist nor mercy had beds. Iowa city said would take and she was life flighted from Jefferson iowa. She was transferred back to GCMC. She needed a follow up and is in no shape to ride 3 hours, be a couple hours at Iowa city and then home. It could kill her as other medical problems have arisen from this. We called to see if dr southward would follow up with her as he comes to Jefferson. . Just look at her arm and do an ultrasound . He flat out refused and said take her back to Iowa city. I am beyond furious with him. It may be in his right but it is most unethical thing I gave experienced in my 48 years of being an RN. So I called Iowa Heart and told them what Dr Southard had done and they immediately accepted her but we still have to go to Des Moines. I will never forgive this man"
