"Difficult to get through on the phone. Did all necessary repairs/ recalls, above and beyond. Only downside: No one called me when truck was ready! I had to chase info. I had talked to them earlier in the day and was given NO timeframe."
"I worked at Werner driving trucks for a bit. I had a daily route to Iowa City and back or North Platte and back. The Maintenance team most always had the trucks ready to go with very little issues. I never ran into any problems with them. My only couldn't/wouldn't was nights and weekends. I couldn't work weekends and I don't like driving at night. So a new dispatcher came in and put me on nights and weekends. I explained it to him but he didn't care, so neither did I. That was my last day/night."
"Want poor benefits, two faced management (Tom Smith and Timothy Thompson, EO2 shop), outdated and severely neglected shop equipment plus not enough of it for the number of techs on the floor, below standard wages, no training or opportunities to advance your career like getting certified for the very same job you will perform daily, their tuition reimbursement is an absolute joke, not enough work to keep busy and the list goes on… by all means, join the werner team! Its sad when even my optometrist knows that a completely-unrelated-to-his-practice company fell apart after the founder retired, nobody locally even accepts their vision insurance for heavens sake. I lost money on my 401k repeatedly, they fight tooth and nail with their team of lawyers to fight your unemployment and/or disability, you get the idea. I cant say how the company was 20 years ago, I can only say as a 5 year tenured and now recent technician, that werner has become among the worst of companies to work for and there seems to be a pretty large group of people happy to back this assertion, including current employees. I never would have left Crete if I had known this was the position I was putting myself in. Just remember, you are nothing more than a badge number here."
