Currently, the Farrar Schoolhouse offers a unique experience with its "Haunting at Farrar" haunted Schoolhouse event, which is now booking for March-June 2024. This event allows visitors to learn about the paranormal activity at the school and explore its eerie atmosphere. Please note that all bookings require a minimum amount to cover up to 6 people, with additional fees for extra guests payable in cash at the door.
Visitors to Farrar must fill out a waiver form, available for download on the booking page. Minors must be accompanied by a legally responsible adult who will sign a waiver on their behalf. Please be aware that the building is not wheelchair accessible, with no elevators and many stairs, making it unsuitable for individuals with health issues or physical restrictions.

"I’ve never been here but I would love to go. I live close to this building and always wondered what it was. I would see cars parked outside and the building looked spooky and creepy. I saw an old looking swing set out front and some of the windows appeared to be broke or missing. Recently I searched for haunted places in Des Moines and I came across the Farrar school. I recognized it and quickly did tons of research. I drive by this places all the time. The crazy thing is I learned it’s across the street from a grave yard but I’ve never seen the grave yard before. I’ve also seen “people” walking by windows constantly. They looked very clumpy and they were what I thought looked like shadows. But after doing research I think they might be spirits, or shadow like figures. Can’t wait to check this place out!"
"I absolutely love this location! If you're looking for a very cheery and comfortable haunt this is perfect. Nothing dark or malevolent, just a cheerful and pleasant haunt with a lot of activity! The current owners are amazing people and so accommodating!"
