SureStay By Best Western Cedar Rapids

"I do not recommend staying at this hotel! The only plus side to this stay was that the sheets on the bed seemed to be clean, but everything else was disgusting. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff was not friendly at all. Our room was very dirty: garbage left over from the previous guests, grime all over the surfaces, the bathroom smelled like pee because there was pee all over the toilet and on the wall in front of the toilet (pictures below), there was a bag over the smoke detector, boogers on the wall, the comforter and extra blanket on the bed were both dirty and we had to take them off, and I had to clean the shower before using due to all the hair/grime/dirty handprints all over the walls. Definitely not worth saving a few bucks to stay in this hotel. I wouldn't even pay $5 to stay here again. A continental breakfast was also listed on the site, but the only things that were offered included a few bagels, toast, and yogurt (which we had to look through because some of them were expired). One of the juice machines was broken, and the other one had black stuff in the liquid, which I can only assume was mold."

"I was quite surprised by how quiet and clean this hotel was. Considering how horrible people are, especially in this area, this place is definitely not what I would have ever expected. Pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Lol"

"It was ok. the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were not good. The location was nice it is just pretty dated with old looking amenities, dark carpet, and old looking doors. The front desk staff I met was pleasant and helpful."

"Our stay was a nightmare. I purchased 2 rooms and pre-paid. We went to an Iowa Hawkeye football game so arrived at the hotel around 11:30-midnight to check in (along with other families that had went to the game). I was told I did not pay for my room and even after showing my bank statement and my confirmations, still had to wait in the lobby with my tired family and everyone in line staring at me angrily for the front desk person to call the manager. When we were finally given a key, we walked to our rooms through hallways that smelled of urine and mildew. Once in our rooms, we noticed cobwebs and bugs in the corners and window, things look filthy, but the beds were okay, so we went to the restroom where we were astonished to find black hair all over the floor, toothpaste spit all over the mirror, faucet, wall, and urine all over the toilet. I called the front desk and was promised someone would be up to clean up the mess and no one ever came. In the morning, we were all changing in the room instead of the bathroom because we did not want to set foot on other people's urine and hair, and while my 10 year old daughter was undressed and my teenage daughter was partially undressed, the housekeeper knocked once on the door. I yelled, "One second!!!" and he immediately opened it and walked in. My daughter was terrified and now doesn't feel safe in hotels. I called the front desk and explained no one had come to clean and the housekeeper walked in on my daughter naked. Deep (the front desk person) stated on the phone, "He did it again? I am so sorry." and then offered to have housekeeping come clean our room. I explained it was almost check out so it was pointless to clean it now. I then received a call from my mother who I had purchased a room for across the hall and she was upset because the housekeeper had just walked in her room without knocking. I made a review and have been attempting to call the hotel since October 2nd and have had no response and everyone always says the manager is not there and will call me back. I filed a complaint with Best Western and they said there is nothing they can do, they can't make the hotel manager call me back, so they eventually offered me a $75 gift card for a future stay at a Best Western. I feel the trauma that my daughters and my mother went through, and the fact that the bathrooms weren't even useable, on top of the fact that I was accused of not paying, should at the very least result in a full refund of both rooms. The manager lied and said she called me twice with no answer, but I have offered to provide phone records proving that is not the case and I spoke to Deep over the phone yesterday and he confirmed that he knew the housekeeper had walked in and that our room was dirty and that he had told his manager about what happened, but yet Best Western corporate says the manager has denied that happened. Worst experience and customer service EVER. I waited to write this review in hopes that the manager would have the decency to call me back and make things right, but 25 days later and nothing. :("

"We stay here often but things are changing and only getting worse. Arrived on Monday no towels in bathroom. Tuesday morning breakfast was ok but no yogurt. So I had biskets n gravy. Came down Wednesday morning and still no yogurt. I asked about biskets n gravy and was told it's for weekends only.... What???? Yesterday wasn't a weekend!!!!!"
