"First time at Ruth Chris on a Friday evening & I was blown away. Des Moines definitely needed an upscale steakhouse that actually offers valet! From the ambiance to the decor to the service everything was absolutely incredible! The staff was very friendly & extremely welcoming. The food was amazing, one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time (bone in New York strip) we sat upstairs and had some of the best seats in the house. Highly recommend. Our dinner with drinks & appetizers was around $250. The lobster voodoo appetizer INCREDIBLE. Top tier service & experience for sure!"

"OK so it's expensive, let's get that out of the way. The welcome was great and the hostess took us to our table very quickly. I mentioned in our reservation that it was our anniversary and the table was decorated with rose petals, which was a very nice touch. Our server was very good, prompt, helpful and friendly. Was able to explain the menu options in good detail. The food came out in a good time, was super hot. The steaks were definitely cooked/grilled extremely well. They were super soft and tasted delicious. Sides were good but for 13 dollars they could have put some more asparagus on the plate... Overall the experience was good, the food was great and we'll definitely be back. This won't be a regular Friday night spot just due to the price, but great for special occasions!"

"We have dined in over 25 Ruth's Chris and this is not what I expected. First, we had reservations and when we arrived we were ignored and then when we finally were acknowledged they seated us upstairs adjacent to a very noisy bar. Couple women were so loud it was deafening. We ask to be re-seated, We then were seated on the main level in the dining room near the high traffic main aisle. Strike 1! Our server was overwhelmed and could not keep up with her tables, So dinner took over 2 hours. Strike 2! The quality of our steak was perfect. Asparagus was tough, burnt ends, basically not edible. Potatoes undercooked. Each side is $13 so no excuse for poorly prepared food. Beware, when ordering Ruth Classics, if you get anything different from listed options they charge a $6 upcharge for each one so added $12 to my meal. Grossly overpriced and then not edible. Waitress just shrugged off our comment. For us this is a treat, we drove 2.5 hours (one way) to enjoy a fine dining experience which this was not. So disappointed."

"First off, David was a tremendous server and did a great job making sure we had a top-notch experience. His suggestions and attention to detail were fantastic. The atmosphere is certainly worthy of a top notch dining room. It is a large place with multiple floors and areas but we didn’t feel overwhelmed. The pacing for serving food was deliberately slow. While some might think they are being forgotten about, I think it’s a purposeful approach to let folks enjoy the experience and savor drinks etc. food came out very quickly off the bat. Entrees were a little slower, but again - I believe it’s a deliberate approach. Now to the food! The steaks and filet we had were great. I had an in-bone NY strip and we had a shrimp filet. The appetizer were the voodoo shrimp which were delightful. The mashed potatoes are fantastic and what you expect. A word of caution on the Sweet potato casserole they offer, it’s very sweet and more like a desert! Super super good though. Overall food and drinks were great and what we expected. Would we go back? Yes but it has to be a special occasion. Even compared to 801 or Flemings, prices are high and you’re going to spend. While the food is incredible, you are also going to pay for the experience and name. Service makes a huge difference and we got lucky. Give these guys a try if you’ve never been."
