"Rye Patch State Recreation Area is best used as a camping area in the middle of Northern Nevada if traveling along Hwy 80. There isn't to much to do here in regards to day use which requires paying a $5 day use fee. There are only two short trails, with less than one mile of total trails to hike. The water level of the river/lake was lower than expected even after a very wet 2022/2023 winter. Can easily see everything that the recreation area has to offer in an hour. It is a good place to relax near a water source for the middle of an arid desert."
