"from maps it looks like a nice snorkel spot. However the sea conditions here can get rough plus part of the bay is closed off due to Jeff Bezos' estate (Armed Guards will confront you if you trespass). There is a nice hike through the neighboring lava fields though. Just be aware of the plethora of goats. Additionally, be aware and respectful to the cultural sites along the trail ( There are remnants of an old village made from lava rock)"
"This is a hike! We didn’t make it to the light stick or whatever it is at the end, but we saw so much beauty. Gorgeous vistas and goats too!"
"Very volcanic and jagged rocks. Not a great swimming beach for the family. Good for the experienced free divers only. Parking is limited. Homless people camping out. Bathrooms are out houses. No phone service and no lifeguard. Kind of remote."
"Wonderful place to walk/hike/snorkel/swim in lava rock and kiawe trees. VERY HOT! Take a lot of water if you intend to spend much time or go very far. A couple years ago I walked/hiked over 4 miles in and it can get rough if it’s sunny with no wind. Be sure to wear very stable shoes, lots of uneven rocks and if you step on a kiawe thorn it will go through a flip flop like a hot knife through butter. Won’t feel good. The parking gets full and the lit is very rough but there’s a lot of parking and there is a porta potty. Be careful of the blow hole, don’t get too close and watch for the wild black goats!"
"Hidden gem found on Maui very few know about. I discovered this location when doing research on hidden spots and came across this area where tourists have used dead coral to “write” on the lava rocks. There wasn’t much detail on how to get here so it was a bit of an adventure! The road will definitely seem like you should not be driving on it between Kanahena Cove (excellent snorkeling spot) and here, but keep driving carefully and there will be a small parking lot. Get out and go for a stroll, hike, or just enjoy the quiet beauty!"
