"Maui Surf Academy was incredible! John and Marco were excellent instructors for the entire family (8 yr old, 11yr old, 13 yr old, and 2 parents)! Whether you are a first timer or someone with a bit of experience, they are the guys for you! They have everything you'll need too-boards, rash guards, water, snacks and even amazing Go-Pro images shared post surf!! John even provided amazing recommendations for local breakfast and lunch spots that were delicious! We will be back next time in Maui!"

"John is such a rad dude, and I would most definitely recommend using Maui Surf Academy. Whether you are trying to catch your first wave or just looking to find the best place to surf, John is the dude! Although my sister is a good surfer, catching waves in Hawaii can be intimidating and he spent a morning working with her and got her into a bunch of fun waves without her feeling like she was taking a beginners lesson. He then offered to pick me up and show me some bigger breaks later that week. Even though I consider myself a strong surfer, it was so nice to have some local knowledge and a buddy in unfamiliar waters."

John took his time to make sure I knew the basics before getting out there on the water. I was able to stand up after a few rides and really enjoyed how he made sure I knew about every aspect of surfing, like the rides, the surf and the water movements. "John took me out on a couple private lessons and had me popping up on some waves immediately. He was patient with my sisters (who joined on one of the lessons) and got them all standing in the 2 hour lesson, and genuinely enthusiastic and friendly. It was hard work, but he made it fun and did a fantastic job of adding insights to instructions. I cannot give enough compliments about this guy and the experience as a whole.
