"This is the oldest military Cemetery in the U.S. Pacific states, dating from 1849 per the VA website, and still well maintained. It contains graves of Army personnel, dependents, some Italian and German POWs from WWII and several service dogs. You'll need Maps to find it, isolated and serene. Now freeway-adjacent, it's hard to imagine just how remote this place was in 1849."

"A great example of how an almost forgotten military cemetery is still in place, well maintained, and accessible to the public."
