Empeiria High Sierra Hotel

"This place is taking advantage of an act of god situation just to get more money. I originally tried to book a reservation else where. Seeing as it was a popular weekend, everywhere else was sold out and this hotel supposedly had the last room available. I booked for a weekend stay Friday through Sunday. I called Wednesday before the 48 hour cancelation window closed due to weather concerns because there was a snow storm. I was told if I cant make it due to extenuating circumstances I would be refunded. I called again Thursday, after the 48 hour window closed, to discuss my reservation because it had evolved into a blizzard and was then deemed to dangerous to be on the roads. Some roads were closed due to accidents (40+ mph winds with 12+ feet of snow was expected). They would not refund me my money or even give credit for another weekend, even though I would be risking my life to get to this reservation. Ashley the "manager" said they would not be accommodating any guests, despite the weather circumstances. Also, after looking at the pictures and reviews, I dont believe they are worth the price."

"This is very clean hotel! What is number one for me!!!! Remodelled. Everything is new in the room and in the dining room. Nice smell everywhere. Good quality breakfast. For this price it’s like 5 stars from 5"

"Let me start with saying this place feels more like a motel. The room comfort is below average even compared to business oriented Inn's. You can hear your next door neighbors and people on the hallway. We were on the top floor so I can't comment on noise coming from above. I would not recommend this place for families based on our recent stay. There are much better places in the area that offer more premium feel at the same or better rate. Beds are uncomfortable. Wall AC/heat unit is noisy. Sink is inside the room and not in the bathroom so if someone is sleeping it is annoying to turn the light or water on. Breakfast is horrible. Ventilation is very poor. This may not be an issue during warmer weather when opening windows my be an option. One of the worst cancelation policies out there. Cancelation policy of at least 14 days in advance is extremely unreasonable, especially, during holidays when it's peak cold, flu and covid season. Worst of all, room service started discarding and cleaning our room on the day of departure before we checked out. The cleaning crew noticed we were taking the luggage out and assumed we checked out without communicating with the front desk. We had few items left in the room and those were gone when we returned to our room. This was our 1st trip to Mammoth and we loved it. Will stay elsewhere when we return."

"Nowhere in my 27 years of experience in the hotel & restaurant industry, have I experienced such poor customer service and lack of care for “hospitality” than at this establishment. My wife, Melissa, and I were gearing up for a great weekend in Mammoth (the VERY town we honeymooned in 19 years ago), and were elated to stay here on our friends recommendation. However, after reading the reviews, it is clear that Empeira High Sierra Hotel has never heard the saying “the customer is always right.” Their insistence on being correct, even at their guests’ detriment is a horrible reflection of their service and level of care. Mel and I are so glad we caught this and decided not to book. I can’t imagine why anyone who reads these lackluster reviews would want to stay here and deal with disinterested employees and unwelcoming front desk, let alone come back for a return visit. Phew! Glad we dodged that bullet."

"My husband and I stayed here Christmas weekend and had a very pleasant stay The staff is extremely friendly and helpful — the lady at the front desk let me check in early even on this busy weekend and was kind enough to waive the fee for me as well Rooms are big and clean, beds are comfortable Complimentary breakfast was a plus The indoor jacuzzi is clean and so relaxing after a long day on the mountain Prices were pretty reasonable compared to other hotels nearby; parking is free Easy shuttle to the village or a 25 minute walk Would definitely stay here again!!"
