"I’m not sure what happened but I encountered a very disappointing experience today at this salon. Green hair and a stained forehead! Upon arrival I explained to the stylist that I will be traveling for medical treatment and will not be able to visit the salon for another five to six months. I brought in two photos to show the stylist and communicated the best that I could while having realistic expectations. An hour and a half later, I looked in the mirror to discover that my hair had a green tinge to it with no highlights and hair dye had stained my forehead. I said three times that my hair was too dark and the stylist told me to “sit with it a few days and then decide.” Unfortunately I don’t have that option because I will be on an airplane. I left and drove straight to Target to purchase a box of hair dye to try to lighten up my hair and somehow get rid of the green tinge and the stain on my forehead. I am extremely upset and can not believe that I paid $288.33 for this terrible mess! The stylist knew that my hair was green because she kept trying to wash it out at the basin. If I wasn’t going to the hospital and already have other things on my mind, I would have asked to speak to a manager. Sadly, I won’t be back to this salon and will find a new place to use in the future. I’ve been going to Ho’Ala salon for many years but this is not acceptable."

"Went here a day before my wedding and specifically asked to get my hair washed and blow dry only so that my personal hairstylist can work with it the next day. I’ve mentioned this multiple times but Scott at Ho’ala still insisted he’ll give me a little “umph” or some volume since I had a dinner reservation right after. He ended up curling my entire hair and it looked awful. I was charged an extra $30 for the curls too (hot tool fee), which I never wanted or asked for to begin with. I ended up having to rewash my hair at the hotel that same night to get all the hair spray and curls out for my wedding the next day. I was also charged a random $5 guest fee because my fiance accompanied me to the salon. Ended up spending over $100 for no reason since I only wanted a simple hair wash and blow dry and had to rewash anyway because the curls were awful and looked like a lions mane. I felt bad and didn’t make a big deal there cause atleast he was enthusiastic and friendly but highly do not recommend this place, I felt scammed"

"Love Ho’ala Salon at Ala Moana. Masami is an exceptional hairstylist and Masako is a wonderful Esthetician and Masseuse. I highly recommend both of them! I won’t go anywhere else for my hair services and personal spa services. They are well worth the price!!"

"I came here for a mani pedi but they only had time for one. So I chose the pedi. I wanted a spa pedi of I'm paying an arm and a leg mine as well get a massage. There wasn't enough time so it ended up being a basic pedi no fluffs or frills $75 super basic barely a rub down or callus removal. The nail tech Kim was very sweet and it was the end of her shift so I understand but man $75 bucks for regular polish basic pedi... a little steep for My liking"

"Pick your stylist carefully and know that a $70 base doesn't mean a thing in terms of skill. Asked for a pixie that I've been wearing for years and ended up with my hair cut in a straight line on the sides of my head. Had a ton of pushback on the short length that I wanted. It's a shame because my favorite pixie haircut came from this salon when I lived on island. I went while visiting due to that experience and was told that only the stylist (who poorly cut my hair in the first place) could fix it and for anyone else to cut it would be paying for a full haircut. She was off for the next two days and I didn't have the time to go back on my trip (nor did I want to) and also wasnt willing to shell out another $100 to a separate stylist. Paid $100 to now have to go get my hair fixed elsewhere. Choose your stylist carefully. (Black and white for a previous cut reference sans bowl cut vibes)"
