'Ohana Island Grindz is a charming food establishment located in the historic town of Makawao, Hawaii. Our dream of offering delicious ice cream and comforting local dishes became a reality in September 2021. We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of visiting your grandparents' kitchen. Despite the challenges we faced during Covid-19, we are committed to serving our community, visitors, and 'ohana for years to come.
Our menu features 'ono comfort foods made with locally sourced ingredients from small businesses like Kula Country Farms, Lopes Farm, Maui Cattle Company, and Roselani. Whether you're craving an old-fashioned root beer float or a hearty plate of saimin, we have something for everyone. We believe in the spirit of 'ohana, where everyone is welcome and connected through love.

"This quant local place was the perfect end to my afternoon in Makawao. Ohana Island Grindz mini plate of Shoyu Chicken was the best Shoyu chicken I’ve ever had. I was mad I didn’t have leftovers. "Ohana Island Grindz is absolutely amazing. The food is a great price and always super tasty. Went in for a breakfast panini and asked for a little pup cup for my puppy. Panini was super tasty! And for the pup cup they even put some bacon in there. They are always so kind and really care for you. Definitely recommend!"

"I unfortunately forgot to take shots of the food, but the atmosphere was amazing and it was very homey. Burgers were awesome and I believe they grind up their own meat. Would recommend coming and visiting and having some either lunch or breakfast there!"
"Absolutely the best traditional Hawaiian plate lunch! The Shoyu chicken was SO flavorful and tender, fell right off the bone. The potato-Mac salad was delicious too. My husband for the roasted pork and was so pleased also! Great prices, excellent customer service, and easy access location in the Upcountry. We’ll definitely be back!"
