"This year (2024) the dining room has a new chef, and some new decor, and it is incredible! Hands down one of the best restaurants in the Tahoe area. Unique menu, we had dinner and then came back for breakfast and ate eggs benedict with short ribs. The even have an in house espresso bar. It's best to go if you're staying in the hotel, at one of the homes, or enjoying a nice day at the resort, since you do have to take a gondola or walk in. It's a truly special space with a mid century modern feel, and all the details well thought out. Highly recommend!"

"Oh.My.Lord. Best surprise in a snow storm, in a ski lodge, in the whole Bay Area, ever. Let’s just say, I renewed my season pass because of this dining experience. Enough said? Same chef for 14 years. I hope he stays for another 14!"

"Not recommended. First of all, you *cannot drive* to this place in the winter. Need to either take the gondola (stops running at 8 pm) or drive in the skiing parking lot and walk a half mile over the snow. After several loops around the property (thanks Google!) we opted for the park-and-walk option. So we got there 13 min after our reservation time - yet the table was not ready. Our table for 3 turned out to be a table for two with an added chair (lucky our 3rd person was a child). From order to arrival of food, we waited about 50 mins. Food itself was okay, but not special. The Papardelle could have used a little less salt, but were otherwise decent. The elk rack was decent meat, but the cranberry reduction tasted just like brown gravy with no hint of any berries. One bright spot - the French fries that came with the kids' burger were deliciously crunchy."

"Nice dining room, windows are very old and there’s a constant stream of frigid air that makes everyone uncomfortable. Food is bland, and poorly prepared. Cassoulet was just beans and potato, and the Pappardelle was just pasta and mushroom. And the wine list was fiction - they hadn’t got anything listed. We waited over an hour before getting any food at all. That said, the staff were very nice and apologetic. I spoke to Lloyd, the manager, and he seemed disinterested in our experience. One star review - primarily for Lloyd(!)"

"Not a bad upscale restaurant. It is a bit expensive considering there isn't too much to offer, but the food quality was good. I'd recommend the Elk."
