About the Business
Thrifty Tails Boutique is a nonprofit thrift store located at 12047 Donner Pass Road in Truckee, California. We offer a curated selection of gently used and vintage clothing, pet-related goods, small home décor, artwork, jewelry, and brand-new items at low costs. The proceeds from our boutique support our mission to save and improve the lives of pets through adoption, community spay/neuter, and humane education programs. Additionally, we offer community support programs such as the Community Pet Pantry, Pet Financial Assistance, Humane Education, and Pet Assisted Therapy programs.
Our staff is dedicated to providing a sustainable way for our neighbors to repurpose unneeded items, keeping clothing and household items out of landfills while supporting animal welfare. While we appreciate all donations, we have some limitations on what we can accept due to space constraints and sellability. Donations can be made at our Truckee location between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to our Truckee location, we also have a store in South Lake Tahoe. We accept donations of vehicles such as cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, boats, and RVs in almost any condition. Your donations help us continue our important work in the community. Thank you for your support!

"I am so pleased with this new, large store. The paid staff have worked with the volunteers to make shopping there an enjoyable experience filled with surprises and value. The art is great and at low, low prices. Their kitchen area is filled with dishes, cups.pots and pans, small appliances and gadgets galore. The clothes in the front of the store are low priced and accessible and the higher end items back in the boutique are a great value. I have purchased linens and home decor at unreasonably low prices. The bonus is behind the glass as I waited to pay. The jewelery is fun and funky and much of the pieces are around three bucks. Most recently I purchased Christmas decor at prices that put the staff on Santa's nice list Thanks to the humane society for taking care of those who are unable to stand up for themselves while offering humans value for the things that are needed."
