"Coaches are good at teaching, and explaining things to younger swimmers. You meet decent people and decent friends here. However, once you reach seventh or eighth grade it becomes very focused on the swim meets and improving times. This pressure to compete made me feel uncomfortable, as I was the slowest swimmer in my group and I was swimming more for the joy of being in the water."
