Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center - Satellite Pharmacy

"Recently had to be seen in the ER. The ER is actually really nice and the people there are wonderful. I wasn't there too long, I mean I've been in ER's much longer, haha. The x-ray folks are a bit strange. But they were nice. The pharmacy people were fairly kind, except for some old man, he was rather grumpy, but he changed his tune a bit when I told him to have a nice day. Even though it was really quite busy in there, we were in and out in no time. Oh and the registration folks were also really kind and efficient. I have to wonder though, in reading reviews of other parts of this hospital and other doctors, why there are so many patient advocates needed and why nothing ever changes? Why do we need to contact 50 patient advocates to air our concerns and then nothing changes anyway? I'm considering skipping healthcare entirely for our stay here, because nothing outside of base is good, and on base isn't good either, it seems. Not sure where to go from here. We can't all just go to the ER for everything."

"Recently, the Nellis AFB Satellite Pharmacy stopped accepting written scripts and went to electronic scripts. They also published a telephone number to call for any problems. This telephone number is useless. Being on hold for an hour or more is common and then the phone disconnects. Occasionally getting a person on the line happens and then you are immediately put on another hold is a common occurrence. The new system is absolutely useless. Only the government could screw this up so badly. Update: A year has gone by since the Nellis AFB Pharmacy updated the service to a mostly automated system, and the result is worse than ever. If you have to speak with someone, plan on being on hold for hours and probably the phone disconnects. If you are fortunate enough to get someone on the line, it is not much help. In most cases it is excuses and then suggestions for the military member (retired) to transfer service to a civilian Pharmacy which I have done. WHAT A MESS!"

"Got stuck in Vegas for medical issues, so ran out of medication. Don’t know how long I will be here. They would only give me refills for two of my 9 meds. Thanks for nothing."

"Outstanding service! They were able to fill my daughter's prescription when Express Scripts could not. The phone lady was extremely helpful and answered my questions when I called about availability. The script was filled shortly after I called to confirm that the order was received from our civilian provider. Much appreciation to the entire staff."

"This is probably one of the best hospitals I've ever been in in my life and that includes Southern California as well. Within minutes I went into the hospital and it was clean, calm and everyone was so professional and kind. Within minutes they started doing blood work and testing and I'm at my doctor and he was phenomenal. Answers to things that I've been looking for 4 years and no one else had any idea of what my ailments were. Their equipment is cutting-edge the best I've ever seen. The X-ray equipment along with Lindsay the x ray technician running it all was fantastic and helped make the images come out perfect and clear. But I was admitted they ask questions no one had ever asked but they were good questions leading to positive solutions. I've never been happier that this place was suggested to me because now I have a chance of getting well."
