"A slightly above average small city Amtrak station. There is a lot of history at this location. Two railroads joined here in the 1870's at the state line. Amtrak service is sparse, but it is the same train that goes through Little Rock, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. So the Amtrak service is as good as the large cities get. This station is also the location where the Union Pacific Big Boy locomotive stops. It is the largest steam locomotive still in operation in the United States. I have attached videoes of the locomotive as it slows down to arrive at the station in Texarkana, and as it has left and crosses the Red River."

"I don't hate the railroad.but the service on the train was not what I expected.first I sat in front row where there was a ventilation grate that was so dusty I felt very uncomfortable.and I smelled exhaust all the way to my next stop which lasted for 3hours.my only wish is that amtrack would take into consideration to remove all those. Cars that have those old 1940's designs that have out grown the times Ridiculous.please take them to be rehab yard and make those bathrooms more presentable for the paying customers.they need to go for good."

"You can watch the trains from the Amtrak passenger depot, but stay away from UP freight operations. Don't cross the yellow line, it is very dangerous and illegal to be on railroad property. Trains cannot stop on a dime like a car can and the trains have the right of way. See tracks, always expect a train."
