Hyatt Place St. Paul/Downtown

"Wow wow wow! What an incredible hotel and for such a great price. Very easy to get to. We parked in the public lot across the street. Huge rooms and vaulted ceilings. I have never seen curtains that large in my life. Our room was a standard room, and had 2 queens and a full size couch that pulled out into a full bed. Everything is updated and in pristine condition. Large breakfast selection and intriguing hotel with refurbished parts of the old post office there throughout. The pool is shallow - perfect for kids and warm. We would definitely go back."

"Overall, our stay was nice and pleasant. The room was immaculately clean, and the towels and bed linens were refreshingly fresh. The hotel boasts a lovely swimming pool and a well-equipped gym. There are plenty of comfortable armchairs and sofas in the lobby and on various floors for relaxation. In the mornings, complimentary breakfast was provided for all guests. It was a standard yet quite comprehensive breakfast with a good variety. Each day, we had the choice of omelettes, potatoes, waffles, and sausages. There was also a selection of bread or bagels, various juices, coffee or tea, as well as fruit and yogurt. However, to our disappointment, there were no vegetables available, and the opportunity to make a salad was absent. In terms of the staff, the majority were polite and attentive, providing excellent service. However, there was one employee who appeared to lack patience. Her mannerism suggested that she was growing weary of politely repeating information to all guests. When we inquired about the pool, her response was somewhat brusque, saying, 'I provided a sheet with all the information; you can read it there! Everything is written there!' It's worth noting that the hotel offers a valet service at a cost of $29, but we opted to use the hotel's parking lot, which was conveniently located in front of the property. In summary, our overall experience was nice and pleasant."

"This is a terrific place to stay in St. Paul, the rooms are spacious and very clean, the breakfast has great options, the location is perfect. The pool is only 3' 6" inches deep and cold. Don't pay for parking because there is a public ramp directly across from hotel, I gave four stars for service because they automatically assume you used valet parking which we didn't, I called immediately and it was removed"

"This is a wonderful and fun hotel. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly - some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced in a while. I loved the historical aspect of this place. They did a fantastic job of integrating modern amenities with the original styling of the building. I’ve never stayed in a room with such tall ceilings! Breakfast was also slightly better than your average hotel fare. My only complaints are that it was near impossible to open and close the curtains which didn’t feel clean (a rod to pull them would be nice but maybe impossible to find since they’re so long), there was a crack in the curtains since I couldn’t pull them all the way to the wall, and the toilet was fussy (had to “recharge” the handle every so often). They had offered to switch our room but it seemed to work fine again until the morning so we didn’t bother. Valet parking is $28/night. There are also other options around if you’d like to cut costs. We opted for the valet since the garage was very secure and we wanted to keep a couple of belongings in the car. This hotel is in the heart of downtown. We had never been to St. Paul and found walking to dinner after sunset a little uncomfortable. There were also some characters outside the hotel. I noticed people would loiter outside to try and gain access. But once we were in the hotel itself we felt safe and unworried."
