"I was there as a kid... Some of the staff were amazing, some were a little bit too harsh to little kids though. If we were passing in all subjects we did not get summer break. In one of the residential buildings you can lock a child in a padded room until they shut up and do whatever they're told... Which is not too good since they should really be talking through it and getting coping skills... Honestly I came out a lot worse than when I came in, I was a lot more depressed. Also is really embarrassing when staff have to teach you about womanhood when you start getting stuff like menstrual cycles and starting to wear more undergarments. People that had families far away or had no families were stuck in the system with no way to get out because parents have to go to therapy or meetings talking about the children... To this day I still get nightmares about that place for some reason... And if you do decide to put your children in that residential place please visit them... You can do phone calls, visits, heck sometimes you can bring your child home for the weekend and then drop them back off at CHS once they get to that stage. Anyways try and figure things out with your child before sending them to a place that is not their home.."

"This was an amazing, loving environment for my son when he needed an intervention fast. They were able to teach him coping skills that he needs to use along with his words when he is mad or frustrated instead of becoming physically aggressive. Applying for placement there for my son was the hardest decision I have had to make but now I know it was the right one that was needed for him to become successful. He spent a little over a year here and to watch him grow and change from the child he was when he was placed there to the young man he is today is a miracle. I am grateful to everyone at the Children's Home and The Loving School for taking my son in and loving him as their own and teaching how to control his impulsive and giving him tools for his tool belt that he will need to use and has already been using. I can't say enough great things about this program and the staff. Thank you for everything!"
