"Original review: Awful experience. Called about an auto quote and was given a decent quote so I wanted to proceed. I was told my policy couldn’t be processed and I had to wait for a paper application in the mail and fill out and mail back. Thought that was weird in the year 2023 but went with it. After almost a month I finally get a letter back saying my application was approved. Thank goodness because I just moved to Minnesota and my previous insurance had expired because the company was not licensed in Minnesota. Gave the geico office a call back to start my policy and surprise surprise, my rate went up almost $100 a month and my new quote was double my previous insurance! Classic bait and switch Update 1, 1 star to 3 stars: Shortly after leaving my review, Matt did contact me personally to fix the issue and was able to get my original rate back. However in that time period I was able to start a policy elsewhere after only one 10 minute phone call and not almost a month of multiple calls and also having to mail in a 5 page application. My understanding is that the paper application is not required for everyone. I was told that I needed to complete it because my recent move and change of address must be triggering something. If they do say you have to fill it out, I would consider looking for a policy elsewhere. Final update, back to 1 star: Apparently the Geico policy was started without my authorization even though I communicated I was no longer interested and had a policy elsewhere. I asked to please cancel the policy that was started which he said would be no problem. Over the last month I have received multiple billing notices requesting payment and have emailed Matt multiple times trying to cancel my policy. He continued to promise that the policy would be canceled and nothing would be owed and that he would send proof of cancellation. Proof of cancellation never came but the billing notices continued. I ended up having to call a national Geico support line and was able to cancel the policy and my balance adjusted to zero after providing my email history."
