The Midway Saloon

"I recently visited Midway Saloon, and regrettably, my experience was marred by deeply troubling issues that went well beyond inadequate service. The behavior I witnessed was not only disappointing but also discriminatory. There was a noticeable pattern of unequal treatment towards Black patrons by the bartenders at Midway Saloon. The difference in how they were served compared to other customers was stark and discomforting. Such discriminatory conduct creates an unwelcoming and hostile environment, which is inexcusable. Moreover, the handling of music choices was blatantly biased. Each time a Black rap song played on TouchTunes, the volume was significantly lowered, implying a deliberate act of marginalization. This subtle yet profound form of racism is entirely unacceptable. In addition to these serious issues, the pricing for beers was inconsistent and seemed arbitrarily decided. When questioned, the staff lacked a reasonable explanation, suggesting a possible intent to overcharge certain customers. The combination of racial discrimination in service, intentional lowering of music volume to minimize certain cultural expressions, and inconsistent pricing policies left me deeply disturbed. I visited Midway Saloon anticipating a pleasant evening but was instead confronted with overt prejudice. I urge the management of Midway Saloon to address these issues urgently. This should include comprehensive staff retraining and strict anti-discrimination policies. Until substantial changes are evident, ensuring equitable treatment of all customers, I cannot recommend this establishment. Businesses have a responsibility to foster inclusivity and equality, and Midway Saloon has failed to meet these essential standards."

"Overpriced for a local bar. Very slow bartenders. Huge favoritism and bending of their own rules for their selected friends. I will not go back but my friend's band was playing is the only reason why we went."

"This is a nice and convenient establishment. People are friendly. It's very welcoming here. It's right across from the soccer field on University. So if you're going to a game come a little early and step in. There is parking in the back and along the sides. It's near the end of the season but they have a nice patio also. If you want to play some pool and have a cocktail or just relax before the game. You may need to do that because you'll be screaming your head off but. I hope that you're going to have pictures it's very clean it's very comfortable and it's quite fun. Signed Christian."

"Just when I thought I would need to follow some new list on social media or have an investment group go and start a great bar with a local vibe and a great music calendar; turns out there is one in my neighborhood already! Great employees and amazing bar selection. Pizzas look and smell great and seem very popular too, I have not tried them though. I have been going for the music which is local, vibrant and great."

"Outstanding musicians and friendly owners and staff. I dont drink but it looked like a great selection with homemade coffee and soda's available too. I will be a repeat customer!!!"
