About the Business

Recreation Centers of Sun City

Recreation Centers of Sun City (RCSC) is a nonprofit, private corporation that owns and operates a variety of recreational facilities in Sun City, Arizona. These include eight recreation centers, eight golf courses, two bowling centers, seven restaurants, the Sun Bowl amphitheater, a softball field, a 33-acre lake, and an off-leash dog park. Sun City AZ is an unincorporated area within Maricopa County, with RCSC being responsible for the management of these facilities.

RCSC is governed by a set of documents such as the Restated Articles of Incorporation, Corporate Bylaws, and Board Policies. Property owners in Sun City AZ are required to pay an annual property assessment to support the maintenance and operation of these recreational facilities. It is important to note that RCSC is not a homeowners association, but a non-profit corporation regulated by Arizona Title 10.

The community of Sun City AZ was designed as an active adult retirement community, with age restrictions built into the deed restrictions. At least one resident of a property must be 55 years or older, and individuals under the age of 19 are not permitted to live in Sun City AZ residences. The Sun City Homeowners Association (SCHOA) is responsible for enforcing deed restrictions and CC&Rs for residential properties in the area.

RCSC is overseen by a nine-member Board of Directors who are elected by Members in good standing. The Board is responsible for enforcing corporate documents, adopting rules for governing the facilities, and making policy decisions for the organization. Members are encouraged to attend Board Meetings to provide feedback, ask questions, and share concerns with both the Board and Management.
