Guitar Center

"I took a guitar to The Guitar Center to trade in for another guitar. I left my guitar and in excess of $500 with them and was told the new guitar would be delivered to my house in 3-5 business days, since they didn't have one in stock. The very next day I received an email from a Guitar Center in a different city saying they didn't have the guitar. I called to let the original store I was coming to get my guitar and money back. That represents over 100 miles of driving for me. When I arrived, my guitar was behind the counter, but I couldn't have it or my money, because something went wrong with the computer. Kinda vague, but I told them I needed my guitar for an upcoming event. They told me I could buy my guitar back from them!!!! Then they told me the issue should be resolved in 10 minutes. FIVE HOURS LATER I left with my money and guitar. FIVE HOURS!!!! During that time, I was receiving emails from the other store telling me the new guitar was being packed. That the new guitar was in transit to my house, and that the guitar had been delivered to my house. Have you ever tried to play an imaginary guitar? I left a review on Trustpilot. They responded with an apparent canned response, complete with grammatical errors. Looking at their responses to other complaints, it became obvious it was canned. Grammatical errors were the same. Lazy, disingenuous and pathetic."

"I know it is not the fault of Guitar Center since they had many thefts during covid. I am accustomed to play many different instruments in order to find the one that speaks to me. That feels right. Having all the guitars locked down and having to get a sales rep to unlock a different guitar every time I needed to make a change did not work for me. What used to feel like a friendly environment now makes me feel like an unwanted guest. I probably will not return."

"Great customer service! I was referred to Guitar Center by a coworker to purchase a new microphone for a work event. I made my purchase online and the online system said the specific mic I ordered was in stock and available. A couple hours later I stopped at Guitar Center to pick up the microphone. Unfortunately since I'm a first time online buyer for this business it took a little longer for the system to process my order. I would have had to cancel my online order and repay for the microphone in store. I was a bit upset because I was using a company card and was hesitant to cancel and repurchase without prior permission. The store manager, Rick went above and beyond with his customer service and personally made sure I had the microphone in hand before the start of my event the next day! I am so appreciative because it would have been pretty challenging to host an open mic night for youth without a microphone! Thank you!"
