"After testing positive for upper abdominal bleed, and listening to my history over the past four days, my excellent Urgent Care P.A. told me to go immediately to Banner Boswell Medical Center. I asked why, out of all the local hospitals, Banner Boswell; the P.A. replied it's the best hospital around. I can't remember all the names of the staff in the Observation Rooms, but they all are hard-working, helped me navigate with the IV to the bathroom, explained how to use the outside phone line and the TV, answered all my questions; they are truly excellent, and went out of their way to assist me every single time an unnecessary hand movement set off the IV alarm. Two names I do remember when I was moved after 18 hours from the Observation Rooms to be admitted into the hospital proper: Two excellent nurses - Jessica (nighttime nurse) and Heidi (daytime nurse). I also want to compliment Lisa, the RN transporter, who first stopped at the pharmacy so I could get my prescription, and then wheeled me out to my waiting car at the Emergency Room Parking Lot, with all my gear in tow. Also a shout-out to Ted at Pharmacy, the pharmacist, with a ready smile always on his face. When I ordered food from the cafeteria, I was prepared for typical "hospital food," and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food is and the wide variety that's on the menu. And pleased you could add stuff to your sandwich. For example: I ordered a roast beef sandwich on white toast, with two cheddar cheese slices, mustard on the side, and French Fries with ketchup on the side. The sandwich was delicious - comparable to a Jersey Mike's Number 6 sandwich. Their menu features breakfast, lunch, and dinner entries. And I can't remember the last time I complimented hospital cafeterias. The staff was super-helpful and as an added plus, it was nice to learn they have security patrolling their parking lots and inside the hospital."
"Recently had surgery here and every single person I interfaced with was kind, competent, caring, and genuinely committed to the best possible outcome. I felt very comfortable and confident. My excellent recovery is a testament to the staff here. Thank you so much!"
"My mother has frontotemporal dementia- the behavioral variant and is very limited verbally. On Friday 2/23/24 around 12pm my sister and I brought her into the ER for urine retention. She was very uncomfortable and aggravated. The first nurse we encountered was Collette, she was responsible for getting moms vitals prior to taking her back to a room. Colette should not be in a patient facing role, her lack of empathy and her bedside manner was disgusting. I let her know my mother was going to be a challenge as we walked into the room, she didn’t slow down to understand what was needed, she spoke to my sister, mother and I as though it was inconvenient to be assisting us. We asked if she has ever helped someone with dementia- that’s how poorly she was communicating with us. The way she spoke to the other nurse about my mother in front of us was heartbreaking. I was in tears once we were moved to a room. Thankfully the next RN Britt was amazing, as well as the rest of the team. They were patient, kind, empathetic and understanding of what we as a family were going through. I wish I could rate Colette individually rather than knock the rating of everyone else- she would get a zero and be unemployed. She is a liability."
"My 77 year old father was treated in ICU for about three weeks due to complications from Covid. My father passed away due to those complications on 02/12/2024. I would have to say most of his care was very good. Dr Goodall and most of his nurses were very compassionate & attentive. Dr Goodall explained to us that she did not think that his lungs would recover that they had done everything they could. Considering the amount of suffering he was going through we made the impossible decision to let him go peacefully. She said he would be medicated they would reduce the oxygen and he would go peacefully that is not what happened. After reducing his oxygen within a few minutes he started getting restless and began yelling for help with what little breath he had left my sister in a state panic ran begging the nurse to please give him something right now to further sedate him. The nurse literally acted like we were bothering them and she took her time going into the room to get the medicine and stood around talking to her colleagues then slowly walked back to the room all while clearly hearing him scream for help. I understand that not all patients are the same and maybe he needed a little more medication that’s not the issue. My only issue with this is the sense of urgency and rudeness from that nurse in one of the worst times of our life no compassion."
"Came into ER with a family member. Security was kind and helpful. Front desk staff were wonderful. So was most of the medical staff. But one nurse needs to learn to deal with people a bit better. I’m not going to go into a procedure that was needed, but I’ll say I was going to stay but not look to provide my family member comfort if that’s what they wanted. I didn’t fully understand what the procedure entailed either. I couldn’t finish asking if they wanted me to stay because this nurse told me 3 times in less than 20 words that it was “weird” with a disgusted look on her face. She simply could have said “let me escort you to the waiting room” or “we typically have family members wait for this procedure in the waiting room.” Anything besides making both me and my family member feel insecure and embarrassed. I hope she reads this and considers how she responds to the next person. Additionally, discharge took place without any real verbal guidance which is something I’m unaccustomed to with an ER visit. That being said, the visit was otherwise as nice as it could be for an ER visit and the procedure did work to get my family member feeling better. I’m going to give a five ⭐️ despite this one nurse, because I don’t think she alone is worth downgrading my rating, but I don’t think I could ever say what she said to me even if I was having an off day."
