"I was excited to try this place out, I put in my information to set a tour and consultation. I then received a call to set up that consultation where I had one of the strangest customer service calls ever. They refused to tell me if there were even early morning classes and wouldn’t give me a price range. After I said I understand there is a sales pitch meeting I just wanted to know what time ranges are available. What seemed like a simple request quickly escalated to one of the rudest customer interactions I have been a part of, guess they don’t need any more members."
"I joined SBG three months prior to this review with little to no MA experience and being considerably out of shape compared to my peers in the gym. I’ve focused only on Muay Thai since joining and I’ve found a new passion and community. Since day one I have felt welcomed and respected not only by the coaches but by students as well, which is a testament to the culture of the gym. Shortly after joining, I signed up for 5 private Muay Thai lessons with Coach Becca and absolutely loved it! Becca is a great coach who is critical while still giving positive feedback where it’s deserved. I’m going to the gym 4x a week for classes and for my own personal weight training in the morning/early afternoon and equipment is plentiful and readily available. Three months in and SBG has knocked it out of the park for me and I’m eager to push myself and move up in the Muay Thai program."
"Joined SBG with my son this year and it has been the best experience for the both of us. Ego's are checked at the door and staff and coach's are the best. I strongly suggest SBG for seasoned people as well as those who are just interested in diving into one of the disciplines. Great vibe, great Tribe."
"It's a good facility. No gym is perfect (hot water is a bit tepid?), but what is offered is quality, and the breadth is remarkable compared to other gyms. The BJJ program has a great team of skilled coaches. Jake, Paul, Ryan, and especially Stephanie will always have a fond place in my memories. There is a great community at SBG, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience that vibe for the 22 months I trained there. If you're reading this review, you owe it to yourself to visit and at least try it out."
"I was pretty excited about joining this gym. Ultimately, I did not feel like I got the value I was hoping to receive. Here are my thoughts. The great. - fantastic facility - HUGE Mat space for rolling - great coaches - chill and respectful atmosphere community - lots of classes to pick from (read con below also on this). - good location - great range of free weight equipment and kettlebells. The Bad - bad belt upgrading system. I was at the gym for over 6 months, and we had one belt upgrade ceremony. - you will pay more for a gym membership than you ever have before, and still be at the lowest tier. With a 152$ monthly membership, I could technically only train 2-3 times a week in the classes. You also cannot increase your training via the “open mats” where everyone rolls together for an hour. That costs extra. At the time I thought, “hey, I’ll just lift in the gym on the days I can’t be in a class”. Nope. This gym is trying to squeeze every hour with a class. From a business perspective, I understand this. From a paying member perspective, I was frustrated that I couldn’t use a gym I was paying for to get a good workout in. Then I thought, hey, I’ll just go hit some bags since I can’t use the “open gym” equipment. Nope. No hitting bags during kids classes. And they are always running kids classes. So basically, I paid 152$ a month for 3ish hours of training a week. Not the best deal. - $$ first here. I had a pretty significant injury with a herniated disc. After asking the gym to pause my membership (after I had sent them my MRI results), their main concern was getting my membership up and running again. In conclusion, if you want to shell out the cash for the highest membership, this is a decent gym and you will increase your combat capabilities."
