"Our daughter spent 10 months at Turning Winds and has been back home since mid January 2024. I have to be honest that my husband and I were scared and nervous to send her to away for so long and in the middle of nowhere with complete strangers. It ended up being the best decision we had ever made and believe wholeheartedly Turning Winds saved her life. She had been to previous treatment centers and in crisis for over 6 years. For our daughter who was almost 18 it was our last resort. We were exhausted emotionally and physically. From the first phone call that we made to find out more about Turning Winds the healing journey finally began. They answered all my questions and were able to work with our insurance company and fought hard to use all our benefits. We drove to Montana and dropped her off. It was the hardest thing I've ever done but the staff, the beauty, and other teens running around put me at ease. We met with one of the directors and he told us to "trust the process" and though it was hard at times it was the best advice he could have given us. The next 10 months was filled with so much support, therapy for the whole family, healing and growth. We got to visit her many times and the life came back to her eyes month after month. We started to get our girl back! What's amazing about Turning Winds as well is that they are a fully accredited school so she was able to get her high school diploma. Her teachers were amazing and so supportive! She even got to take a trip to Belize and do service work there. The parent support group is amazing too and getting to lean on other parents going through the same thing at the same time is beyond valuable. Today, my daughter is attending community college, working part time and is living and loving life. She was able to wean off almost all her medication and had the time and space to get to root of her issues. From the nursing staff to the cooks there is so much love and compassion these people have for our lost kids. I also can't say enough amazing things about her therapist that we met with weekly. She made herself available anytime and completely changed my daughters life. If you are reading this and your in crisis with your child I feel for you and my heart breaks for you. BUT, just know that there is help for your family and Turning Winds saved her life and gave us our daughter back. We will be forever thankful."
