"Kyle, owner, was very professional and accommodating and even squeezed us in to help my daughter when she broke down. However, he didn't discuss price ahead of time to set any expectations. When he finished the next day he said his rate was $135/hr. That's about 35% higher than most every shop around. He did good work and we'll pay but I wasn't expecting $655 bill to replace a thermostat gasket and water pump gasket only. No parts other than gasket and labor. He knows his stuff, has a clean shop and is obviously busy. I would trust him with my car again but next time set clear expectations for time limits per repair not just go off what that shop guide estimate is... I know things change as you dig into issues and sometimes take longer than expected. Clear pricing and communication is needed for unexpected expenses or additional parts. He's a solid guy, knows his stuff but needs to be clear with pricing before starting work. He found improperly installed water pump and thermostat, cleaned the old gasket off and installed new gaskets. Good work finding true cause of leak and not telling her she needs to replace the pump and thermostat which were brand new. So, he's honest, which is more than I can say for many other shops in the city... Just perhaps a bit high on labor is my only real complaint. I'll be checking the time he took from when I saw him start work to when he finished and called me... Seems like he billed for more labor unless he marked up the price of the two gaskets by a bunch... Summary - good shop, clean, smart mechanic but recommend you get it in writing on price before he starts. I think he's honest but pricey."
